|Clouded Yellow-Colias crocea|
Family - PIERIDAE
subfamily - COLIADINAE
A notable migrant which reaches far into Northern Europe during favourable years. In about 5% of the population the female takes a pale form, f. helice, which can be confused with Berger's clouded yellow, Colias alfacariensis and the Pale clouded yellow, Colias hyale. ( In Romania, certainly, flying to November, during favourable years!!!)
Photographed in the area Piatra Craiului, Brasov, Ro. Piatra Craiului is river located along the Barsa where one of my favorite walking places near Brasov.Collection of my pictures taken during the current butterfly season . All are wild butterflies taken in their natural habitat.
I am happy that we were able see and photograph all three species butterflies Clouded yellow : - Colias CROCEA; Colias HYALE; Colias ALFACARIENSIS!!!

Hi Valerian,a beautiful choice of low point of view to create a fantastic contrast between the yellow of the butterfly and the intensive blue of sky, excellent composition, good sharpness and details. Thanks for share, have a nice weekend,Luciano
Faina imaginea cu detalii bune si culori placute. Un contrast ridicat asigurat de fundalul albastru al cerului. Galbenul este relativ de greu de redat si la fel si detaliile pe aceasta culoare.
Regret dar nu mai am puncte, am depasit cei 20 de zambareti permisi la 24h.
Ciao Valerian, welcome on TN, great yellow beauty on a splendid blue sky, excellent sharpness, fine details and wonderful bright colors, very well done my friend, have a good week end, ciao Silvio
eye catching presentation of Colias crocea taken from a very favourable point of view against an intensely blue sky of late Autumn.
The butterfly's colours look pleasantly naturalistic, smooth and gentle. Composition with the Hieracium blossom is powerfully framefilling and well balanced. The butterfly's details might be brought out just a little bit sharper - it seems that the image might have become softer than the original in the process of downsize to web. Some simple postwork resharpening might very often be worth trying - please see workshop.
Thank you for this cheerfully colourful sight on a dark winter day.
With thanks, and best regards,
