Additional note*: Why is this superb duck called mandarine ? Because it is an endemic animal specific to China and it inspired the European travelers to call it that way after observing the local Chinese nobility, the mandarines, that carried themselves with grace and always fancied colorful silks and their hairstyle resembled the ducks mullet. They are also observed in the forests and lakes of Siberia and Japan. Its particular beauty made European travelers spread it and breed it all over the Old World via England, I believe - Radu F.

An interesting POV here Radu.The background of green makes this duck look so different.I'd like to breed these if I ever get a chance.

Excellent shot and well don eon the POV.

The composition would be more effective if the space on the left was minimal as the duck is looking right. I find your subject too centered. A slight increase in contrast will make your image "Pop" and a very slight increase in USM is needed.

Unusual POV of this gorgeous duck, Radu. Great shot with sharp details and beautiful colors. Well done and TFS. : )

Hi, radu, just picking one shot from your impressive and diverse gallery. The colors are simply wonderful, feeding off each other to create a rich but beautifully subdued harmony of autumnal tones.

The Mandarin duck is a very pretty water fowl, I personally would of tried to get the whole duck in the picture simply because everything about this bird is cool, or I would of zoomed in to get a nice side profile of the head that shows off the majority of this birds appealing features. The back end of this duck is out of focus and because of that it's the first thing the viewer sees. Paul :)
