Tomares ballus female.

Family: Lycaenidae
Genus: Tomares
Species: T. ballus

Its size is usually 1.5 cm. You can find them from February to May. They usually live in an altitude of 300 to 1,500 meters. Their larvae feed on legumes, especially the genus Lotus, also of Astragalus, Onobrichis, Mediacago, Dorycnium, etc. Larvae mutualisms establish relationships with species of ants.
They are found in Spain, France and North Africa.
