|River belonging to the Andalusian Atlantic basin (Water District Tinto-Odiel-Chanza), which rises in the mountains of Father Caro and empties into the Huelva estuary where it joins the River Odiel. Next to their birth places the short open-pit mine in Peņa del Hierro Nerva, being somewhat later Corta Atalaya, the largest open-pit mining site in Europe, and in the town of Minas de Rio Tinto. Both deposits have been mined since Roman times.|
