Dear Tom,
I googled the short toed Eagle, and apparently it is also called SHORT TOED SNAKE EAGLE .

I am amazed at the naturally shiny eye - not due to you touching it up- but probably the point of view.
It looks a strong, healthy, well groomed bird unlike many raptors in South Africa which look quite mangy.

To photograph birds in flight , you HAD to go south! I am sure you never find in Luxembourg a sky like this:-)
