The octopus is a cephalopod of the order Octopoda that inhabits many diverse regions of the ocean, especially coral reefs.

Octopuses are characterized by their eight arms, usually with sucker cups on them.

Unlike most other cephalopods, the majority of octopuses have almost entirely soft bodies; they have neither a protective outer shell like the nautilus, nor any vestige of an internal shell or bones, like cuttlefish or squids.
This enables them to squeeze through very narrow slits
between underwater rocks, which is very helpful when they are fleeing from morays or other predating fish.

Octopuses are highly intelligent, probably the most intelligent of the invertebrates. Maze and problem-solving experiments show that they have both short- and long-term memory, although their short lifespans limit the amount they can ultimately learn.

I find these creatures beautiful and fascinating to watch both in the wild and in the aquarium. They really seemed to be dancing some complex dance.

Picture was taken under hard light conditions with no tripod and 1600ASA
An arm of an additional octopus was cloned out of the picture as well as some reflections.

Merci.

Beautiful and interesting aquatic scene ! Composition, colors, details are good ! Thanks for sharing Shir.

Marvellouy composition Shir. The octopus is one of my favourite animals, so I couldn't love it. Nice pose of the subjects. Good light. Very well done!

Well Shir this is very striking photo. The light is excellent as is the colours. Great forms and shapes in this aquatic scene. Very good work, well done.

Great moment you have captured. Very sharp. Shame about all the debris in the water. Perhaps cleaning that up would improve the photo even more.

Brilliant picture. Indeed seems like they are dancing. That's the beauty of these nice creatures. Great composition and very nice contrast and coloring. Great job. A favorite!

Yes, I like it! Very well done.

A very unusual picture. Sorry but where did you snap these octopuses?

Just love the blue background.

wow!
a wonderful shot!!

this photo amazes me it is in such detail it's great!

Bravo!
Fantastic shot, not a subject we see much of!

The debris appears like snow and the octupi seem as though they are hanging in mid air. Like that they are inter-twined.

Well done on what was obviously a tricky capture. Nice PP.

Vaya!

I cooked 2 once. They came in a plastic bag, just goo, slid into the water, then hardened as they cooked. I could not eat them......Looks like they could really get tangled up in a fight!

This is truly an amazing shot i love how you were able to capture such sharp details and contrast.

fantastic, i love it
respect,
ilona
