Russula parazurea

This is the same specie I posted HERE full of water, so I decided to include a more descriptive shot.

I find this mushroom very beautiful, it has lovely colours. If the id is correct it should be edible. I have neaver eaten russulas, because I am never 100% sure with the ident.
I was told that they are a delicate and tasty, each Russula specie has its own flavour: garlic, hot, sour, sweet.

Remembering something I read in TN some years ago:
"All the mushrooms are edible, but some of them only once."

F:8 - 1/6 sec. - Manual exposure - Minitripod

Hola Felipe y Cristina,

Beautiful shot as always, perfect exposure and composition, mysterious lights, top class sharpness (maybe except for the closest square centimeters).

Russula parazurea Jul. Schäff. can't be excluded, but we'll never know the truth most probably, because species of the section Heterophyllae are quite similar to each other macroscopically. For example Russula ionochlora Romagn. also satisfies all the visible macroscopic features of your photo. I only found R. parazurea once in my life, it's rare here, and in that case its cap was metallic blue.

For identifying Russulas (and Lactarius genera also): if You're sure in the genus, You have to taste a bit of the gills. If they are hot, the mushroom's inedible. Exceptions are very few. Anyway, I strongly advice to everyone not knowing what "hot taste" means to taste a gill of Lactarius pyrogalus. :)

Friendly regards, László

Hi Felipe,

a nice picture from these Russala but they are so difficult to determinate that i am not sure of this spec.
Good pov and details.
Soon I will also begiining with posting fungi's.

Hola Felipe,
