[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
In these early days of December reach our fields starlings (Sturnus vulgaris). It is a migratory bird, which is rare in Bizkaia nidifique, although there are some quotes from it. They gather in large flocks, especially for sleeping. Their winter plumage is presented in the photograph, with white flecks characteristics, which will disappear in spring. Furthermore, the peak in winter is dark, becoming lemon yellow with bluish base in summer. It feeds on seeds, insect larvae and invertebrates found on the ground, berries and fruits. They are very opportunistic and help us monitor the abundance of invertebrates in our orchards.
