Ascocoryne sarcoides

Although this is a small specimen I wanted to post this shot to show the polymorphism that the same mushroom might have growing in different places. You can compare this one with THIS other one Paul has already posted in two different stages.
I have found some other near to this that are identical to the one shown in Paul´s post. This factor added to the distintive colour of this one, convinced me of the ident. At first, and because of its irregular shape I thought this might be a Tremelaceae, but I didnt found anyone with this colour.

Fruiting body
5-10 (20) mm, spherical when young, then pyramidal to cup-shaped or disk-shaped, also cushionlike. Sometimes irregularly undulating, or with central depression. Pink to pale violet, smooth.
Fertile surface
Smooth to somewhat wrinkled, pink to violet-pink (similar to outer surface), margin sometimes darker. Flesh gelatinous.
Stalkless or with very short stalk.
Not distinctive.
Spore print not known. Spores hyaline.
Found in temperate forests and cool, wet rainforest growing on rotting branches or trunks lying on the ground, as well as stumps of various trees.

Hope you like!

Excellent Felipe, I think it is nicer than mine. The leaf above looks like a stained glass window. Vrey good work.

Otra artística composicion para el marco fotográfico.
La hoja, los líquenes (eso creo que son) y esa maravilloso hongo completan una bella mirada del sitio que nos has permitido compartir.
Gracias Felipe.

Felip, Excellent work! It's amazing the detail you can display in this LARGE size format!! ;-)) PS: Do you mean to say "Purple" Waves?

Hi Felipe, thanks for such an informative note. This little fungi reminds me of brown gelatinous seaweed we get along our coast, amazing how two totally different species can look so similar (I'll have to take a photo one day so you know what I mean).

Someones bubblegum? And the hits just keep on comming. This compo is very striking. The subject is small yet contrasts nicely. That leaf adds something to look at. The backlight making it almost the focal point. Well done.

Good sharpness. detail and colour, the leaf is a nice touch. Well done.

A very nice shot.
Excellent composition and the details and colours are great.
The leaf gives a sense of scale to the size of the fungi.

Felipe, this is an excellent post with great detail and very informative notes. Thanks for posting

A very nice photo Felipe. Like you, I first thought Tremella, but I couldn't think of any that colour. Your ID of Ascocoryne is the best I can think of. There are other Tremellaceae that are as yet un-named. My friend here has found a few newbies.
A great post and very comprehensive notes.
Up to your usual great standard.

Very good artistic shot, good colors and details.
Well done

Felipe, aunque olemos la seta desempeña el papel principal principal en esta escena, pero la hoja detrás roba a la estrella creando un decorado suntuoso.
Bella puesta en escena sobre un texto bien escrito. Gracias.

Felipe, we smell although the mushroom plays the leading part in this scene, but the leaf behind steals the star by creating a luxurious decoration. Beautiful stage setting on a well written text. Thank you.

Felipe, on sent bien que le champignon joue le rôle principal dans cette scène, mais la feuille derrière vole la vedette en créant un somptueux décor.
Belle mise en scène sur un texte bien écrit. Merci.
