ENGLISH NOTE IN THE LOWER PART

Apotecios acopados o cupuliformes, de 3-8 cm. de diámetro, después abiertos e irregularmente plegados. Borde ondulado y ligeramente crestado. El himenio de color pardo púrpura a pardo oscuro y la parte externa furfurácea de color pardo rojo o fuliginoso. Presenta ascósporas elipsoides irregularmente reticuladas.
Fructifica en bosques de planifolios y coníferas, en taludes y orillas de caminos, con predilección por los terrenos arcillosos en verano y otoño.
OBSERVACIONES: Cualquier intento de diferenciar macroscópicamente Peziza badia Pers. de Peziza badioconfusa Korf. resulta inútil sin recurrir a las características microscópicas, de ahí los epítetos específicos de ambas.

Peziza badia Pers. ex Mérat Kastanienbrauner Becherling
Pézize brune, Bay Cup. Cup 3–8cm across, cup-shaped, irregularly wavy with age, sessile, inner surface olive-brown, outer reddish-brown and slightly scurfy. Flesh thin, reddish-brown, yielding watery juice. Asci 330 x 15µ, blued at the tip by iodine. Spores elliptical, containing two oil drops, irregularly reticulate, 17–20 x 9–12µ. Habitat on soil especially on open clay banks or paths. Season late summer to autumn. Common. Edible when well cooked, poisonous if eaten raw. Distribution, America and Europe

This is not the typical photogenic subject that captivates the imagination as if in a fairy tale land, but still the photo is excellent for specimen that it is!

Hello Felipe!

Very surrealistic subject today. DOF, POV and sharpness are very nice. Composition is also good. It is very hard to take good picture of such 'weird' subject, but you did it well. I like BG - dry, brown leaves are always good for autumnal shots. Funny note :-) 'Edible when well cooked, poisonous if eaten raw.' I wanted to eat it raw at first sight ;-)))

BTW - wait to evening for my todays post - I was in park yesterday and took many photos of fungi, I think they'll be interesting for you.

Hola,
What an interesting shaped and colored fungi. Maybe not the most pretty one, but for sure an interesting one. It is beautiful to see that in some places it looks like it is translucent. Great details and note.
