Nectria cinnabarina

Thanks Jan [honza] for the ident, I think he has nailed it.

This is a small subject... the detail on the top right is taken getting to the limit the 60mm macro and 100% crop (no resize for posting).

Nectria cinnabarina (Coral Spot Fungus). Saprophytic, less often as a necrotrophic parasite on living and dead branches of many trees.
Char.: two forms occur, that is (1) a perfect stage which is capable of sexual reproduction and (2) an imperfect stage that may reproduce itself asexually. Both forms often occur on the same spot side by side. The perfect stage bears tiny, cinnabar-red to brownish-pink sporophores, whereas the imperfect stage appears as tiny, pale pinkish-orange cushions.

Just a recomendation. When we talk about fungal organism, we always think about mushrooms, the hidden world is too small for us to see, but I have found a nice site where we can see images and movies of hyphal development, spores, slimes moulds, etc all made with electron micrograph tech.
If you are interested you can see it HERE.

Hope you like!

Hi dear Felipe .
very nice image.
excellent details and great light.
well captured

they realy look a little pretty with the pink colour. I never noticed such spots, I think the tree don't like them, but they look beautiful in your collage, thanks

Hello Felipe and Christina,
I think it is the first time that I see one of your notes saying that :) You know your subject so well unusually but we can know everything for sure, nature is so diversified. This is a nice montage of this strange specie with perfect details, exposure and this amazing pink color that contrast very well with this tree's trunk. I have never seen something like that. Well done and thanks,

Hello Felipe and Cristina,
Brilliant presentation of these mystery slime moulds. Excellent sharp details and very lovely colours. I wonder what kine of wood they were on?
TFS and regards, Ulla

Hi Felipe,
I too don't think is a slime mould more then likely a fungi but I have know idea which ether.
It also reminds me of the lichen Baeomyces heteromorphus then again if they are the fruiting bodys were is the rest of the plant!

Never the less an intresting photo, have been impressed with the other slime mould you have been showing of late

Wow Felipe,
You always amazes me with these fungi! That's another fantastic example of how diverse this group is. I like very much the different aspects and scales you presented us here.
Best greetings,

Hello Felipe , very strange photo , and congrat. for your 10000 , good luck.

Nice photos of the interesting fungi. I think this may be Nectria cinnabarina, rather commonly spread saprofytic fungi.

Bonsoir Felipe Mateo & Cristina

Preciosos detalles y gran trabajo.

Hello Felipe,
What an amazing collage for these little mushrooms.
The "+++" : subject, 3 levels zoom, sharpness, DOF, details, colors, exposure, useful note...
The "-" : nothing...
Congratulations my friend and TFS.

Hi Felipe,
This 3-way collage is simply fantastic, the photos are one of the best ones I ever saw about the species on the whole net. Big thanx and huge congrats.
Friendly hugs, László
PS: what's up with you now MF? I miss you here as always.
