The Birdseye Primrose occurs in damp calcareous meadows. It is fairly rare in Sweden, occuring in suitable marshy habitats in the southern half of the country. In Swedish it is called 'majviva' (May primrose).

In Europe it occurs in similar habitats in the mountains. It flowers in May and June.

I took this shot today when we visited a nature reserve some 20 km from home. It was cold and cloudy and the expected insect and birdlife were absent, but during a brief sunny period I took the opportunity to portray these primroses amongst the other wild flowers that are abundant in this marshy reserve.

Taken at a distance of about 3.5 meters with the camera hand-held.
I underexposed by a couple of stops to prevent overexposure of the pinks.
ISO 200
Image cropped to a small extent and after size reduction sharpened and treated for noise.

I hope you enjoy this sight of late springtime.

I like this composition where you have separated the flowers in the FG so well from the smooth warm green BG. Fantastic colours of our majviva too!

Hi Ivan.
I like captured by you scene and selection of the POV so much. Amazing sharp FG and flowers and perfectly blurred impressive BG. Sunlight is impressive at high range as well as the beautiful colour of the flowers Superb artistic picture. My compliments and TFS.

Beautiful presentation of these marvellous primulas, Ivan.
I guess you must have lain flat on the ground to capture them from this wonderful perspective.
I saw similar primulas for the first time in the Everest region in Nepal way back in 1982. I have some faded prints of them in my old collection.
Bathed in the sunshine, they look adorable.
Thanks and regards.

If you love flowers, the southern part of india (Ooty) is absolute. I have shot nearly 100's of roses and other related flowers. This is very good. The lighting here is great. Ganesh
