No, this was not taken in a park or garden but in a nature reserve!

Bird’s-eye Primrose, Primula farinosa

Swedish name: Majviva, meaning ’may primrose’

This species is confined to damp lime-rich meadows and marshes.

It is found in N. Europe and N. Asia and at higher altitudes further south.

Owing to modern agriculture, intensive grazing and haymaking before the seeds form, it has become scarce.

We saw large numbers of these in full flower on a cloudy day. When it is warm and sunny these flowers soon become pale.

This was taken with my long lens hand-held at a distance of about 3 meters (10 ft).

After very slight cropping and size reduction the image was slightly sharpened using the unsharp mask mode and converted from RAW to JPEG.

Bonjour Ivan,

Hello Ivan.
Sometimes I wonder why there are many beautiful wildflowers out there never get adopted as garden flowers. This is a fine specimen and will grace any fine garden with proud. Lovely details and I like the long stalk leaving the leaves close to the ground.
Have a great week ahead.
