Very special moment photographed by you this time. To take a picture of Anax species is for me like a "black magic", I have never even a chance to do this, as this species is too fast for me :)

You photo has a very nice composition with the dragonfly's image reflected by the water. The diagonal placed plantseparating the dragonfly from its reflected image look great.

Hi Ivan. So Your depatment of defence has done some good by the sound of it. The insects soon move in. I like the refection in the still blue water. good detail and use of the light which has given bright colours. well done TFS.

Sorry for my delay, I dont know I didnt see this great macro-shot. Blue Emperor is one of very beautiful and fascinating dragonflies. I tried to take its shots when it flew. It is very beautiful, when it laying eggs. You captured it greatly, with splendid coloration, great focus and POV. I also like feflection. Notes always very nice and informative. Believe it or not, i have some VERY similar photos of the same species :)) I tried all year to get a classic shot of a Anax imperator, but managed to get shots like these :) I was happy with them, as i'm sure you are, but i'm still determined to pursue the matter further next year.

This is a very nice close-up of this delicate moment.
The details here are very good and sharp and the colors are lovely. Surely, the splendid reflection adds to the compo and creates such a nice visual impact.

I missed this most beautiful and interesting picture. Anax imperator laying eggs, fabulous subject,rendered in a very artistic manner. The slightly decentred composition with the reflection on the water is excellent, the colours very harmonious. I like also the workshop picture.

Hello Ivan
This is a fine capture..I have never seen a Blue Emperor before and you have done well in your research to find a new site to capture such a wonderful Dragon.
The reflection is superb on the blue water..Perhaps if there is a downside to such a wonderful capture is that dof slightly ran out on the near wing..I know the Dragons dont stop still for long but I now try to use a mono pod with a manfrotto rc322 head which allows a great range of movement and then use af to bring the subject into focus and keep the shutter depressed and then manually focus...It fails more than it works but it does give a chance to play with settings quite quickly to achieve the dof and focus you want.

The blue sky reflected on water indeed makes this image very special, Ivan.
It is a wonderful action shot with great clarity. This species of European dragonflies is very good looking. I like its green and black abdomen.
The mirror effect adds immense value to the composition.
