This is a Marsh Fritillary, a rare Butterfly, protected in entire EU.
We can find a small numbers of them in our famous road, Fjärilsvägen (butterfly road).
It was about 6-7 years ago since I saw them, so it was a pleasant encounter.
Hope you like this beauty.

Info from Wikipedia.
Marsh Fritillary species vary greatly in appearance, and depending on where it is geographically, but it varies even within populations.
The male and female are similar but the female is often greater. The wingspan ranges between 33 and 46 millimetres in different individuals.
The top surface is patterned with fields of yellow, orange and dark brown and dark brown lines.
The fields form part of the band and an orange so the rear edge of the wing is brownish black spots. Underside similar to the top but the colours are brighter.
The larva is black with very small brighter spots along the sides and back. It is equipped with tags, and can grow up to 30 inches long
The Marsh Fritillary range extends from Morocco and Algeria in North Africa through southern and central Europe, western and southern Siberia to Mongolia and north-western
China. In Scandinavia it occurs in small areas located in north-western Denmark, in south-eastern Finland and in Sweden, Oland and Gotland in Vastmanland, Uppland, Dalarna and Gastrikland

Hello Gert,

Gorgeous study of this marsh fritillary with sharp focus from wing tip to wing tip. The green bokeh dramatically enhances the finally saturated oranges and browns of this species. Congrats on this fine image.

It is a great photo with a very beautiful eye-caching composition.

Another great photo Gert! Very good composition and fantastic colours. The sharpness is impressive. Yesterday we had +35C.

Hello Gert,
Thank's to show this rare butterfly which I almost never have seen myself. As usual best sharpness and a fine classical composition.
Take care!

Hallo Gert
Butterflies are so amazing, especially when one looks at the transformation they go to become what they are. We, as humans, have so much in common: we tend to flutter from place to place, love colours, are always changing, and are attracted to the people and things in our lives that are sweet, beautiful, and peaceful. There are so many ways to identify with these insects - thanks for a beautiful posting. Best regards.
