Thanks for your kind words of my previous post.

Today's post is a picture of a pair of mating Black-veined White butterflies, stand out nicely against the backlight.
The Black-veined White butterfly is our provincial landscape insect. Very beautiful even though it is only in black and white.
They use to show up on big numbers but this year we haven’t seen that much.

The Black-veined White, is a large butterfly of the Pieridae family
It is found in orchards and bushes throughout most of Europe, North America, temperate Asia, Korea and Japan.[1]It usually feeds on plants in the genus Prunus.
Flight time is between June and July, size is 56–68 millimetres (2.2–2.7 in), and is normally found an altitudes of 500–2,000 metres (1,600–6,600 ft).
Caterpillars live communally on uncut branches of the foodplant at first, before dispersing in the later developmental stages to other parts of the tree.

Hi Gert.
I see you play with old style Sigma telelens. Result is very nice including sharpness of the cute pair of butterflies and flowers, splendid bokeh and colours. Aperture value is simply huge. I was very pleased with AF-S 300mm f4 + TC1.4x. I think Sigma is not better if I am mistaken? All in all close-up is superb. Kind regards and TFS.
