Good texture and detail captured in the feathers. Exposure, Dof are well handled and good highlight in the eye. What I especially like is the birds pose, it looks as if he has spotted something in the shrubbery and is deciding whether to go for it or not.

Not sure if I have seen this bird before. I love the pose - he looks deep in thought. Beautiful colors and details of the head, plummage, wings and tail feathers. The color combination is wonderful. Lovely setting and composition.

Father and son on a common excursion! What a great and valuable experience. And the visible result is superb. The Jay is beautiful, well exposed although the light conditions were poor as you say. I like those indirect light conditions very much, they provide softer colours.

Beautifully captured Ivan. It looks so real - the feathers look so soft and the close details show up well.
It's a lovely colour too,

nice capture of the Siberian Jay, i liked the shine in the eyes of this cute little bird, you have managed to get good details of the plumae, fine pov and well composed too,
tfs & regards
Reading your environmental notes, I was smelling..as if I could..I wonder though...the boreal forest is in a cooler climate...as opposed say places like Eastern Oregon pine forests...where it gets REAL hot and the pines and firs smell very strongly. Is there a smell of this evergreen up that far north or does the cool keep it lower?
An unusual bird to my eye...It is somewhat drab..not the image mind you but the bird....which may indeed be one of its positive qualities...very sharp and the grasses almost with their bright greens, take over a bit...I am indeed a full-on scenery person..

This is a nice photo of the Siberian Jay. I like the natural atitude of the bird. It seems obvious to me that bird was looking after something and did not watch you. You prouved a very good skill apraching the bird. Image is very nice with sharp detaisl of the bird. Color rendering is also well done as color tones look natural.
Thank you for sharing,

una vista algo diferente a la comun por la pose del ave y el propio posadero. Excelente iluminación.
Gracias por tu ayuda en la ID de mi Pterophorus que aunque no tengo claro sigo investigando jeje.

As I wrote to Ulla, today is the Swedish day! ;)
I was not able to write comments too often to your pictures last time because of some trips, but today I will try to do it, at least to a few of your images :)
Let's start with species not known for me. The English name suggests that is is a boreal taxon. It is very colourful as for North European/Asiatic bird. I like that you showed us it in two different poses - on the tree and on the ground.
TFS and have a nice afternoon!

Beautiful picture of this Jay. Very nice composition. Excellent sharpness. Superb colours. I like very much the pose of the bird which seems to wait for insects, same pose that the blackbirds may have sometimes.
