The thumbnail stood out like a pretty summery scene Ivan. The Svartringlad Pärlemorfjäril looks so happy dancing on the mauve flowers of the orchid plant. How lovely to see the orchid growing wild like this.
Very nicely portrayed

Hi Ivan,
Your butterfly looks very attractive,
I think sharpness is a little bit excessive,
the colours is absolutely natural, well done..

Hello Ivan,
Very intertesting species of Fritillary. With its dark appearance it reminds a lot some alpine species. Useful to have also the picture of the underside of the wings.
Good diagonal presentation.
Un grand merci

Hello Ivan,
this is a species which I rarely encountered. Your picture shows the characteristics
of the species very clear and with natural colours. Depth of field could be a bit
broader, in my opinion, so that more of the outer wing margins is included.
Best wishes, Peter

Hi Ivan
Ha, your note had an interesting impact. You mentioned cranberry and instantly I was reminded of a fabulous lunch I had with my partner about 5 years ago in a small cafe on top of Cambearra Mountain, around 120km s of Sydney. Here we tried turkey with cheese and cranberry jam on a toasted bread roll. Absolutley delicious, and we have made it ourselves several times since. i had always though that cranberries were american, now I must go and see where they originate.
Anyway, its a great shot, as I've mentioned previously, that's a great and versitile lens you have. Excellent sharpness, DOF, composition. But most of all, you have a great talent in portraying species so that we can easily identify them. Great work my friend.
Of for a week to tropical Queensland again. Thanks for jolting my memory.

Hello Ivan,
Very nice composition in your photo. I like the position of the butterfly relative to the frame. Also placing the sharp image of the butterfly on the blurry background looks great. There is a nice contrast between insect;s colors and flower beneath.
Thank you for sharing,
Cristian

Haven't you caught the best of patterns here. I am always amazed at the wonderful patterns in nature. Sometimes they are obviously beautiful as captured in this one with rich deep colour. And sometimes we have to look just a bit closer as some do with macro of multiple yes...but the patterns are always there...Very nice Ivan!

Hi Ivan
Maybe it is not perfectly sharp but it is B. eunomia ;-) - rare in Poland. Perfect background, nice composition. Sharpness is the only problem here
Best wishes

Hi Ivan,
neat, this Fritillary sitting on an orchid, a rare sight. Great composition. The light on the wings is just right. There is a little unsharpness on the hind wings, but that's no problem.
If I remember my biology correctly pollination by insects goes for Dactylorhiza like this: the orchid is a cheater, offers no nectar to visitors. It's similarity with the nectar producing Polygonum makes insects confound it with the latter. When frustrated the insect starts wiggling and humming, this attaches the sticky pollen packet on its front.
My best regards
Dietrich

Hi Ivan
Just a quick one now...trying to catch up after my trip last week :)
I think this is a nice shot but actually an even better goal setter for the future :) The butterfly is lovely and so is the orchid it is on, too, but just as you sad, you had to work with a shallow DOF because of time of day. However, now you know you can find them in this combination and i'm sure we all would just love to see an outstanding shot from you, taken with the perfect DOF, about this butterfly on this orchid, both pin-sharp :) How's that for a challange? :)
Anyway, even if you don't get it, this is a lovely presentation of both and a nice biology lesson.
Bravo and TFS

Excellent composition with this very different looking Frilillary sitting on pretty purple flowers, Ivan.
The shot is well composed and the diagonal placement of the subject within the frame is very apt and attractive.
For us from Asia, some of the European butterflies are a novelty and hence a great source of learning and enjoyment.
Thanks and regards.
