Today again a collage of two pictures made this afternoon in the local forest out from my hide,I posted these birds already before, but in these shots which have been made within 10 minutes from eachother,I liked the way that male and female posed on the same spot on the same tree.
both picture are slightly cropped (about 5%),to make them identical,my hide was located within 3 meters from this tree, hope you like it and tfw.

Hej Neighbour,
What a brilliant and interesting presentation of the male and the female Greater Spotted Woodpecker both in an identical pose. Great sharpness and fine colours. Very clever, it couldn't be improved on!
Many thanks and cheers, Ulla

Hello Paul,
Very educational for instance through the way you present it....
Surprised to some extent; there's almost no difference between male and female...
Very good moment(s)!
Well done..

Hi Paul,

Very well done! I have seen once a couple of hairy woodpeckers to relay one each other while excavating a hole for the nest. I have even taken similar photos, but it was high on a tree and the quality was rather poor. But these are not working yet, and the tree is too narrow for nesting! Thank you,

Eugene

Hello Paul,

Very nice and interesting collage. I see only one big difference. Very sharp pictures and wonderful colours.
Well done,
Cheers,
Mariki

Hi Paul,
The difference, yes I see it but I don´t write it. What a special shot of both Woodpeckers it is in my opinion on the same spot of the tree.
And as Ulla write an interesting presentation.
Great work.
Viv

Hi Paul,
excellent educational posting here, there's not much to choose from between the two is there?
Both are very well exposed, composed and with fine detail and colour, very well done.
Paul

That's way cool - getting both sexes at the same spot in the same light. Extraordinary!
I was out yesterday, spotted Pileated, Downy and Redbellied woodpeckers, but no dice in getting a pic. The more I enjoy the detail and colors of your shot.
Bravo!

Woah! There's quite a significant difference between the two beaks! I would have thought the only difference between male and female was size and colouring!
That's amazing! They've both posed very almost exactly in the same place on the same tree!
Great clarity and detail.
Nice colours.
Very well done Paul,
Joe

bonjour paul

Groet,
Peter

excelente trabajo,
detalles y diferencias, original presentación,

Hello Paul,

All I can say is amazing.. one bird is hard enough to catch and you have two of different sexes perching on the same exact spot. All have been said on this excellent picture and all I can add is just another two points.

Well done and please allow me to add this to my personal theme.

Regards,
Jusni

Hi Paul,

I really like this photo first time I have even noticed the difference between a male and female. Good to know.
Hope your well!

Hi Paul

A terrific series of shots and a splendid idea for a collage!
I think the difference between the two sexes can't be presented any better than this!
I really liek teh very similar condition you captured them both in as well as the impeccable sharpness of both of them. The colors are also great and the almost identical pose helps a lot, too.
Great stuff!!!

Bravo and TFS

Hi Paul

That's a great couple. What are the chances of them posing on the same spot??, amazing. Illustrates the difference between male and female very well. Both are well exposed with good sharpness and plumage detail.

Good work
Chris

Amazing collage!
Really the same pose in the same spot!

Andrea

Hi Paul

Wow, great work Paul!
They really put on a show for ya, and now we at TN get to enjoy their side by side modeling..
Excellent all the way round with the male/female symbols bottom right corner a nice touch :)
Very well done,

Ha Paul,

Je laat hier perfect de verschillen tussen man en vrouw zien in een uitstekende kwaliteit en bijna dezelfde pose
Prima details, prachtige kleuren en een perfecte achtergrond

TFS Thijs

excellent naturalist shot...i can see differences but would not have been able to associate them with sexing..
they really did you a good turn coming over to the same branch..
good work
cheers

What a great comparison, you couldn't ask for better! Technically well executed and the OOF background really lets the birds stand out. WELL DONE!

hi Paul,
incredible.. i can't believe you got pretty much identical shots, in same poses, of male and female! unbelievable.. i bet you can't do that again! fantastic work. tfs
Gethin

Incredible shot Paul! Exactly the same place and position. It's really a document to see the differences between male and female. Very well done. Best regards,
Catherine

Hi Paul
An interesting post of both the male and female woodpecker in the same location in tree. The female seems a bit more colourful, plus her beak seems to be a slightly different shape. Did I correctly identify the female?
TFS Janice

Hello Paul,
superb double portrait of beautiful birds! It is very interesting presentation with greater conformity of birds positions!

Best regards and good week, Leonid
