Yesterday I uploaded a Finnish moose with her calf,a few hours later after posting this capture on TN while I was on a drive close to my home I saw this Swedish mom and her calf grazing in the field,luckely I had the camera with me and could make a few captures,they were about 60 to 70 meters away and the picture is cropped,but I was happy with the result,hope you like this Swedish moose and calf as well,thanks for watching

The moose Having come as close to a symbol of Swedish nature as possible, the King of the Swedish forest; the moose (Moose) deserves an extra presentation. The moose is common all over Sweden, except for on Gotland and the in very north. It is the largest deer animal in the world, 2 metres in height and weighing up to 400-500 kilograms. The Swedish moose is a close relative to the North American, but usually does not reach quite the same size. But Sweden has a very large population with about 100,000 moose shot during hunting every year. The total population is around 250,000 which makes Sweden the country with the highest density in the world. Naturally, visitors have a very good chance seeing one in the wild, and some areas in Sweden have guided tours for visitors interested in meeting the King of the Forest where the Halle-Hunneberg area is the most recognised.

The fact that the moose is very common and also a very large animal is also a great security problem on the Swedish roads. Warning signs are put up along extra frequent crossovers and, fences protect the main highways.

Hi Paul,

Great capture of Swedish Moose. They seem to be more open-minded;o) and let you take photos at open. All the details in your description apply to the situation in Finland and Norway as well. The thought of spotting a moose in your headlights is scary. I has been close many times. Hitting one is likely to kill you. Very good composition, sharp details and grat BG displaying their habitat.

Hi Paul, it is a beautiful animal. We have a similar problem in Canada, with moose on the roads (in Newfoundland) where the moose was introduced and doesn't have any natural enemies. Your shot with the cow and calf is great, and you certainly have their attention. Nice detail seen on the two.

A cute pair, Paul. I like the way the two are in the frame. Great job capturing them both looking at you and their eyes. My only suggestion is with the tight crop they seem a bit far apart, I wonder if just a bit more space around them would give more of a feeling of a "couple?" (Of course, then they wouldn't be as big then.)

Lovely picture of the mother and her baby. unfortunately we do not have these magnificent animals here in Denmark - only when they try to escape ffrom Sweden:-0.

Very good and vivid colours, nice focus on the animals with nice details. Both animals are looking at you and therefore have your attention which is good. Though looking more at the picture I think that some of the background is without interest and also the little slope in front of the mother could make a very natural crop of in the bottom of the picture. Therefore I dared to make a ws - please forgive me but I could not help it.

Good notes too. I didn't know that Mooses were so common in Sweden that you have to protect your highways from their invasion.:)
