I hope all is OK with unlucky bird. Scene is really rare and exiting. It is also very difficult for shooting and you managed to reflect the nerve of the situation perfectly. Best wishes and TFS.

Excellent capture with nice details and good focus.
A dramatic winter scene...poor Rock....I don't like animals in pain, so I am feeding the birds around my apartment.

Poor bird, this winter season is really impressive and crude! ... I hope that next year will bring you and your family, many good things and better weather! :) ... I am sending you a hug from Venezuela, Thank you for all that we shared in 2010, and also by all I've learned from you and your Canon SX10IS! (and from you and your G9 also!)
Regards, Happy New Year!

what a pity! I would do the same in the deep snow. A very exciting and very simple view of the weather and the creatures that affected by it.
The softness of the snow is so well seen and it gives me a special feeling about it. Though its quite bad, those who did have the opportunity to enjoy the snow, longed for it.
Thanks for sharing.
Not one of your best focused and composed shots surely, but under the unfavourable circumstances the image is very informative.
I hope 2011 will be a warm year for you Ulla, which you can enjoy in great health and happiness...

Great message to the folks on TN on the last day of 2010, Ulla. It means a lot to us oldies.
Wish you and Ivan a very Happy New Year 2011!
Your picture on the occasion adds a touch of humour with this Rook making a wrong landing! Hope he hadn't had one too many!!
We too had rains and snow here in North India and this morning while driving to school, I was thrilled to have a view of snow-clad mountains in the north.

The position of this landing is priceless! You reacted very quickly to get this unusual shot. I can't believe how much snow you have - wish I could send you some warmth from Arizona. I wish you a belated healthy and happy New Year.
From a metering point of view, this is a most difficult photo. You got white for the most part of the photo with black in the center. I am sure the histogram of the photo will only show two peaks and those are on either side of the spectrum. I think that if you made the photo a little brighter so that the snow is closer to white, the photo would become even better.
I like the streaks of snow passing infront of the lens. And the very interesting moment you have captured.

Hello Ulla !
Poor bird, stuck like this in the snow - I hope he managed to get out in the end... It is a great moment you have captured here, excellent timing. I also like how the snow is making "hills" behind the rook, looks very nice. Very well done !

I'm all for PEACE 100%.
Am so sad that I've never run into you; I saw Alex's Hoverfly dedicated to you. Hence this visit.
Such a CLEAR CLEAR IMAGE... "showing" the snow storm. And all done with a mere Canon Powershot SX10 IS.... GREAT SHOW!!!
As a younger man I flew through a lot of storms and never ever CRASH LANDED. Am sure it is horrible. A few of my pilot friends did crash land. 8 of them did not live to tell us how they felt. BUT EVEN TODAY "I" FEEL THAT PAIN.
A HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU TOO.
Mario from FULLY SNOW COVERED AND EXTREMELY COLD COLD CALGARY, Canada with warm greetings of sincere friendship.
