[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Again a pair of black wood pecker are breeding in the same hole than last year.
The black wood pecker is the biggest woodpecker in europe and has about the size of a crow. Their cries are very typical and quite varied.

Taken with my new sony lens.

Bonsoir Pierre,
Une belle attitude du sujet dans une lumière bien maîtrisé permettant d'apprécier les reflets d'une couleur difficile à exploiter.
A bientôt sur TN pour de nouvelles aventures.

Hello Pierre,

Hope you are well. This is an excellent shot of this lovely species of woodpecker which I think is not found in my part of Pakistan even as a vagrant.I have not checked the field guides to know whether its range extends to our region. The head of the bird is a shade off because of the constant movement of head, for these bird do not sit steady at one place and after spotting a visitor, cleverly turn around the trunk and try to stay out of sight.
The pressure on tail feathers for a prop, is beautifully visible in this shot. Thanks a lot for sharing, take care,

warm regards/Abid

Interesting capture from a bottom perspective, portraying the back of this woodpecker in the mouth of the nest in the tree.

A hug.

Hello Pierre,
I would have to say your new Sony lens is definitely a keeper. You managed to capture this attractive woodpecker in wonderful clarity and crispness. Black plumages have a tendency to not display much detail, but this image looks great!!
It's always neat when birds use the same nesting sites from year to year, as it gives us something expectant to look for each spring. Well done!!
Ron
