Fresh out of the can: Schüpfenflue

Today Markus (Heaven) and I joined up for another excursion to the Schüpfenflue. Again it was great fun to experience how we two approach the subjects photographically differently. Here is a look at a forest in snow and fog. The water droplets of the fog settle on the trees and crystallize out at the same time, forming the snowy surfaces.

The allusion in the title to the tale of Little Red Riding Hood (=Rotkäppchen) has to do with the fact that the Wolfes are back in our mountain forests. But we found no traces of it here. We will be back and look harder!

Technical stuff: done with a Sony Alpha 700, 100 ISO and in RAW, post-processing in PS and RAW (Color temperature to 5300, slight color saturation and contrast increase, sharpening.

Hallo Dieter!

As liebs Grüessli

Hallo Dietrich,

Hello Dietrich,
As our forests in Sweden are mostly spruce fields for pulp there are too many trees with the porr biodiversity caused by monoculture.
This forest looks more natural with different trunk sizes and it is f ine wintery capture, the trees forming a nice almost B&W pattern.
Thanks an have a good weekend,

Hi Dietrich

To help provide this earth with the needed oxygen. That is why the forest has so many
trees….. I hope you find the wolf, but just be cautious in case it is the same one from
the "Rotkäppchen" story. That one was a child eater and it must have had a very large
mouth to swallow Red Riding Hood whole. If it was not so she never would have been
able to escape.

A very fascinating and somewhat creative capture showing very interesting patterns
and lines. At first I thought it was a B&W image, but as I started to pay some attention
and I looked a little closer at those trees showing black trunks and the other trees with
the greyish trunks then I realise it was not grey but brown. Only then did I look to see
what "Medium" was indicated and I regained some sanity when I realised that my eyes
wasn't playing any tricks on me, it was a full colour posting (chuckle).

Well done and TFS.

Lieber Dieter,

Ciao Dietrich, splendid winter view in a magic forest, great composition with fantastic light, very well done, ciao Silvio

Hi Dietrich,
I can clearly see that Markus has an effect on your photography. This certainly is within his style of looking at nature. I like the way you made the a horizontal photo with mostly vertical lines. It still shows that it are trees, but it also has the artful feel.

Hi Dietrich

Sorry for being a little late, but i want to take this opportunity and wish a Happy Christmas and only the best and good health for the Next Year!
This is a very nice and original shot from you, inspire surely by Marcus's work as well.
I really like the texture you managed to capture here and how well the dark vertical lines contrast with the horizontal icy ones.
A very appropriate post for this time of the year :)

Warm regards
