Travelling across the Kandertal, a valley in the Bernese Oberland, the mountains around had already almost no snow. They have an altitude of 2000-2500m. It is the first time that I can observe this in February. Fortunately some other valleys have still more snow. But the Global warming seems to appear around here in a quite spectacular way.

Hi Anne,
Worring to see your mountains without snow. Here we have 15 ºC at 10:13. A great view of your wonderful mountains.
Have a good day.
TFS, José M.

Bonjour,
A voir le temps qu'il fait ce matin, on peut en douter !
Bonne journée.

We feature side-by-side in the gallery today, so while I continue working in my office, I thought I would steal a moment to write a few words on your picture.
Who can say that this is Switzerland in winter, Anne? This looks more like late autumn!
Nevertheless, I am truly floored by the sheer beauty of this capture. What an impressive view looking upward towards those peaks!
Very natural shades of colours. The bright sunshine exudes a sense of calm comfort.
The depth of view is also wonderful here.
Best regards.
Ram

Hello Anne!
Well, here on your photo maybe there is the end of winter but in Lodz it is still snow all around... (unfortunatelly ;>)
Nice "cold" composition with good perspective and details.
I really hope that your picture is a kind of spring's "herald" :)
Greetings,
Radomir

Strange winter scene Dear Anne. I still have the hope that it can snow in March! Excellent scenery captured, the DOF is great. Only, I sense some strange noise on the top of the mountains, in the sky. Is this the result of some post processing?
Have a nice weekend,
Sayat

Hi Anne.
As I can see the winter (in out region) is only come. You have shared a rather unusual picture. It looks like graphic (or pastel) work. Great composition and impressive POV. Some loss of details, soft lighting and damped up colours create such effect. I welcome this approach. My compliments and TFS.
Alexei.

Hello Anne,

Composition: nice diagonal composition
Light: excellent, sunny but well exposed with nicely managed white patches of snow
Colours: natural and delicate
Focus: perfect
Technical aspects: all fine
Postprocessing etc.: all fine
Impact: very nice illustrative shot - makes me want to hike there :-)

Best greetings!
Michal

Bonjour Anne,
Stunning mountain view!
I like so much the POV used here, it was so useful to build this excellent composition.
The pure and clean blue sky adds a lot to the image.
It's really an issue the fact told in your notes, about the lack of snow in this time of the year.
Congratulations for the photo and thanks for share it.
My best regards,
JM

Bonjour Anne
Amicalement Robi

Hi Annie, no snow also in Italy, wonderful mountain landscape with splendid colors, great green forest, very well done, have a nice week end, ciao Silvio

Hi Anne.
I like this diagonall composition and great depth of field.Untypical of cold, but beautiful view of bare slope and clean blue sky.Pretty details and very well saturated colors.
Superb done,thank you for sharing.
Best greetings Milos.

very well done.

Bonjour Anel,
Ton paysage est magnifique, mais le texte qui l'accompagne bien inquiétant... Mais que s'est-il passé cette année? Merci pour ce post signifiant et instructif.
Salutations
Hervé

The lack of snow in February is amazing! ... and sad. I am pleased that Al Gore's movie on global warming won the academy award last evening.

This is a classic mountain shot with good exposure on the whites. I would like to see a little more tonal variety in the rest of the image. There is a lot of mid tones. It may have to do with loss of saturation on upload to TN.

Hi Anne,
Beautiful landscape you have captured with a great composition and lovely colors. My Niece from Calgary was disappointed when she arrived for a ski trip in Zurich on the 12th and found no snow.
Rick

mighty and beautiful
picture!

composition
good work!

Hi Anne,
Impressive landscape, I like the POV in the mountains, the effect ·d made by the relieve is excellent. Magnific sharpness
I think that this pic is a certain document of world warming.
Cheers
Hernán

Hello Anne,
It is worrying indeed, to see the mountains with so less snow in February! Very well registrated.
Apart from that it is a good photo, nicely composed, good light fall and modest colours.
Well done Anne.
Regards, Ruud

Hello Anne

A beautiful mountain shot. The image is very well focused and the composition is very well done.It is a shame about the lack of snow in the mountains.I hope that this doesn't mean a drought this summer.Wonderful POV.TFS

Rob

Bonjour Anne,
Ah! les couleurs de l'hiver! presque du N&B...
Belle photo, et encore une fois, belle lumière qui ne crée pas d'ombre disgracieuse.
Merci,
Moustique :o)

Hello Anne,
This is a great view of this majestic mountain scenery!
I like the strong diagonal slopes, and I also notice the muted colours in spite of this sunny day but what is really amazing is the lack of snow!
A fine documentary, excellent image!
Greetings,
Pablo -

Anne,
Great composition. Great register, showing the effects of Global warming very clearly.
Hope people of importance see this one & try to help
us, humans, to "save" our Mother Earth from total
disaster.
Very well portraited indeed.
Greetings from Mario.

Its a concern to us all! This is the warmest winter I experienced in over 35 years in Western Canada! We still have a little more snow than that in the mountains, but around this time is when I usually go to get some more frozen waterfall shots etc. Guess what: none frozen anymore!
Cheers
Otto
