Here another picture taken in Switzerland during my summer holidays.
It shows the usually fast flying
- Colias phicomone
- family: Pieridae

German: Grünlicher Heufalter
English: Mountain Clouded Yellow

Species information
The distribution of C. phicomone is restricted to the higher mountain areas of Europe, i.e. the Alps, Pyrenees, Asturian Mountains in Spain and Carpathians. Habitats are usually above 1800m.

Location
Open alpine meadow at about 2100m, Hannigalp (Wallis, Switzerland).

A superb capture of Colias phicomone, technically close to perfect with natural colours and well composed on the grass head against a fine clean green BG.

Lieber Peter,
Ein farblich sehr feines Schmetterlingsbild mit bester Bildschärfe, wie üblich. Kann es momentan nicht in mein Schweizer-Schmetterlingsthema tun, da es voll ist. Ich werde aber nächstens eine Nummer 2 öffnen, um alle Neuankömmlinge aufzunehemen!
Habe einen Colias im Unterwallis fotografiert, von welchem ich nicht sicher bin, ob es auch ein C. phicomone ist. Werde ihn nächstens mal zeigen und freue mich natürlich auch auf dein Satyrus ferula.
