Mont Cervin is a famous mountain in the European Alps. On the border between Switzerland and Italy, it towers over the Swiss village of Zermatt and the Italian village Breuil-Cervinia in the Val Tournanche.

The Mont Cervin has four faces, facing the four compass points, with the north and south faces meeting to form a short east-west summit ridge. The faces are steep, and only small patches of snow and ice cling to them; regular avalanches send the snow down to accumulate on the glaciers at the base of each face.

The Mont Cervin was climbed later than most of the main mountains of the Alps, not because of its technical difficulty, but because of the fear it inspired in early mountaineers.

The usual pattern is to take the Schwarzsee cable car up from Zermatt, hike up to the Hörnli-hütte (elev. 3,260 m/10,695 ft), a large stone building at the base of the main ridge, and spend the night. The next day the climber rises at 4:00 am, so as to reach the summit and descend before the regular afternoon clouds and storms come in...

Note : I never went at the top of this peak, I am a walker, not a strong climber ;-)

Hello Christian,
A most impressive peak. I like the tight composition here with just the right amount of sky. Exposure is also good, esp. shadow detail. Regards,
Hakan

Hi Christian,
Very good compo and colours.
With sunlight on the snow, difficult not to go specular.

Hi Christian!
I like very much this type of photographs (becouse I'm climber & hiking guide).
Great composition and colors.
Exposure is good, but if you can fix middle white area (snow) to achive more details (less highlights) it will be WOW.
That is only my opinion.

Best regards,
Mario

Bonjour Christian,
The piramid shape of this high mountian looks really powerful and impressive. You also captured it with great details and wonderful lighting. The perfect conditioned snow contrasts perfectly with the soft blue sky.
TFS,
Niek

Hi Christian.
I like your amazing mountain picture so much. Especially I like your excellent exposure and reproduction of shadowed and lightened parts of the image. Subject for shooting is wonderful as well as the impressive POV, cropping and composition of the shot. Sharpness, details and colours of the picture are perfect too. Note is also written very well. Superb job. My best wishes and TFS.
Alexei.

Hello Christian,
couleurs, netteté et symétrie sont parfaites. Et la silhouette ainsi reconnaissable! Dans le dix-neuviéme siècle on l'appelait "la montagne de roche pourri", mais quelle beauté!
Bravo.
Violetta

Very good the light/shadows effect.
Felicitacions et merci du partage.
Mes amities,

Hello Christian,
Beautiful POV and composition. Well handle of light under bright sun and white snow. Great natural colors. Thanks for sharing this 4475 meters from sea level.

Hello Christian!
Very nice winter mountain landscape! Beauty, cold colours, good DOF and interesting POV together with informative note make here a very nice presentation.
I like also a black frame, which placed both above and below picture makes photo more "panoramic" :)
Best greetings and TFS,
Radomir

Hi Christian

Another wonderful landscape from you, my friend!
This is really a steap peak and i can easily see why it was so feared by the early mountaineers.
The exposure here is very well managed and the details are great - showing all the textures superbly!
All-in-all: a very beautiful composition and presentation!

Bravo and TFS

Hello Christian,
the magnificent "Matterhorn" taken from a slightly different point of view that most of us know it, and it looks most impressive with those thick layers of snow.
Perfect details in all parts. Noble matter of fact presentation. Very elegant composition.
Thank you! With best regards,
Peter

Hello Christian
Impressive Mount Le Cervin!! What a beautiful image with those rocky sides painted in white with snow. The alpinistes must be really brave and bold to try and climb it, of course.
Great job!
My compliments and TFS.

Bonjour Christian,
De retour du Valais je découvre cette belle photo du Cervin, assez inhabituelle aussi. Belle lumière sur ce fameux sommet.( Mon père a publié un livre sur les gravures représentant le Cervin).
Merci pour cette approche originale

Hello Christian,
Perfect shot of this unfriendly, harsh yet beautiful landscape. This peaks seems to be sharp as a razor blade. Nice combination of white/blue shades.
Best greetings and TFS!
Michal

Cristian, you are the man of the high mountains and every time I see these Alps I think of you. Your composition is strong and the exposure beautifully handled. Makes for a excellent post and shows as the majesty of this mountain. Very fine work..
