[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This photo was taken on the top of Pilatus Mountain, 2100 m high. There was a larger flock of choughs, counting some 20 birds. Of course they waited for some contribution by nearby people and five of them decided to confortably rest on the fence.

Quite a common bird, the Alpine Chough is also called Yellow-billed Chough.
It is distributed in the Alps, northern Africa, Turkey, India and central China.
Like here on the photo it is rarely found bellow 1500 m above sea level. The individual birds collect in flocks and feed mainly on insects. They are fearless and they come close to humans to pick up human food.
Wingspan: 65-74 cm
Body length: 36-39 cm.

Scientific classification:
Kingdom: Animalia
Phylum: Chordata
Class: Aves
Order: Passeriformes
Family: Corvidae
Genus: Pyrrhocorax
Species: Pyrrhocorax graculus

Hi Mitja
very nice compo, great BG and funny shot with the second one jumping in the air.
Big telelenses are not always neede for great bird pictures.

Hahaha... this is really a funny photo, I like it very much. Especially the one that jumps a bit up in the air! How great!

But it is also very well done with excellent technique and a nice composition.

We have a special relationship with this specie from Iceriesenwelt in Austria when one of these tried to snatch our oldest daughters bright red hairpin and hit her hard in the head with the very sharp bill. No blood but lots of tears.... she is studying biology now so no harm done there!

I just love this photo as it captures the temperament of these fellows so perfect!

Well done, mate! Regards/ Bengt Falke

Hello Mitja,
This is a really neat perspective with all the birds line up one after the other. I really like how their beaks and feet stand out with those Orange and yellow colors. Welcome to TN. :)

Good photo and well composed! Wonderful colors too.
Great work! Regards!

Nice shot ! Maybe I would have tried to play with the depth of field, but that shot is great.

Nice point of view !
