[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is one result of a TN meeting, local chapter: Anne (anel) and Markus (Heaven) and I got together to visit the Gérine river nearby. We were three people adopting quite different photography styles but we had a ball together.

Since I am the "small critter" guy of the group, I tried to take a picture of the volatile Cicindela beetle: no success with the beetle, much laughter from the friends. I then took out a small net and a transparent plastic lid, caught a bugger and put it back to where I had caught it but this time kept it under the lid. After a while the beetle was sedated and I could lift the lid to take pictures.

Its a Northern dune tiger beetle (Coleoptera; Cicindelidae; Cicindela hybrida; Brauner Sandlaufkäfer; Cicindèle brune). I won't say anything about it's biology, Radomir (cicindela) has taken care of that with his usual professionalism.

hallo Dieter,
Anne

Hello Dietrich!
Funny story, but please believe me - I understand you perfectly! :> These little creatures are more than difficult to photograph :>
Anyway, nice to see your final effect, this little lady (as it is a female) looks really nice. I like almost frontal POV, thanks to this it is really easy to see that this is C. hybrida (very characteristic shape of labrum as you know).
Thank you for showing this beetle and thank you also for compliments. It is really a great pleasure to know that anyone can find anything interesting in my presentation :)
All the best from Lodz Dietrich and I am waiting for next picture from your meeting with Anne and Markus! :)
Friendly yours,
Radomir

PS. If you agree I would like to add this picture to 2 themes: tiger beetles of Europe and of the world :)

Hello Deitrich, great capture. You have got details and fine parts expertly captured. Wonderful colours and markings. regard h

Hello Dietrich,

Excellent capture of this cicindela. Excellent POV to see the head in detail. Great sharpness and I like very much the iridescent colours.
Cheers,
Mariki

Hi Dieter!

Thank you very much for this picture and the kind words about our meeting. It's a pleasure to remember it, we had a great day together, although I don't have many photographical results to present. I still have to learn what macro photography is made of. All I know is that you and Anel are masters... This picture is one proof among many!

Kind regards

Markus

Hello Dietrich,
A great macro of C. hybrida taken from an excellent POV to show the labrum, jaws and other aspects of the head with fine sharpness. This is an inspiration for me to look for it here near my home where it has a small population.
Thanks for sharing this and I hope to see more from your TN meeting!
Best regards, Ivan

Hi My dear friend Dietrich,
A perfect capture of this cicindelid species with superb clarity, POV and framing. Also beautiful dedication to our good TN friend, Radek. TFS and cheers,

Bayram

Hello Dietrich,

A superb photo of this little beast. I've tried a few times to photograph Tiger Beetles here, and they are so active that I have yet to get a good image of one, so congratulations, it's quite a feat to get a shot like this one.

Thanks,
John

Lieber Dietrich,
auch ich habe diese Tiere mit meiner Kamera - oft erfolglos - verfolgt, auch in den Tropen, da scheinen sie noch fixer zu sein als hier in Europa. Klasse Bild. Manchmal muss man erfinderisch sein.
Schöne Grüße,
Peter

Hi Dietrich,
Great title, I like em' short & sweet ;}
And the POV couldn't be much better to fit this theme either..
You've picked up all those subtle color variations on the beetle too, Nice!
Excellent DOF, details, comp, and use of flash to fill.
Very well done,
Howard
PS - I'm gonna have to get out there & pick on some bugs soon too :)
