"Summertime Blues"

We old guys remember the Eddie Cochran song "Summertime Blues" (1958). The title fits with the picture of two Skippers: it's right now raining outside! You see a Silver-spotted skipper to the left (Lepidoptera; Hesperiidae; Hesperia comma; Kommafalter; Le Comma). According to Ivan Kruys (Argus), the flying butterfly is a Small skipper (Thymelicus sylvestris; Ockergelber Dickkopffalter; La Bande Noire).
ID: The two skippers are visibly not of the same species, they are not overly interested in each other, their probosces being rolled out. Thanks Ivan Kruys (Argus) for help once more.

Technical stuff: The shot was taken with my compact Cybershot at Tilets Schwand, 950 m a.s.l. I had to remove plant parts in PS with "stamp" to improve on the composition.

Lieber Dieter,
So schöön! Erinnert an Kreidolf. Licht, Komposition und Natürlichkeit, alles hattest Du im Griff. Bravo!
Herzlich grüsst

Hello Dietrich,

Compact camera or not, still a very attractive image with beautiful color, really gives a feel for summer. I am torn on the subject of removing photo elements in Photoshop, and personally don't do that for nature shots, preferring to try to remove unwanted elements by hand when taking the shot, mainly stray blades of grass, but I guess there's very little difference, both techniques do the same thing. In this case, if you had tried to remove elements while shooting, I'm sure it would have chased the subjects away.

Good capture...

Lieber Dieter,

Hello Dietrich,
Nice action macro of two skippers having a feast on a red clover. The one in flight is T. sylvestris, the body shape suggesting a male and as you say he would have no interest in the female O. sylvanus. I think the rotated composition with the Hairbells is very effective.
Yes I remember Eddie Cochrane's song when I was a student.
Thanks and best wishes,

Ciao Dietrich, lovely couple on beautiful flowers, fantastic colors, fine details and splendid sharpness, superb composition, very well done, ciao Silvio

A moment from summer captured with most impressive timing. The beauty of this capture is highlighted in the incluion of two subjects, the rich and vibrant colours and most of the compsotion that you chose to make showing both the skippers in good perspective. The one flying is shown in good clarity with a fine blur of the wings...you must surely have mastered the way to handle that compact:)

Thanks much for sharing
