From my backyard:

This strange, imposing looking male Tachinid fly is 12 mm long and sits on a Mentha longifolia flower (Diptera; Tachinidae; Phasia (=Alophora) hemiptera (F.); Wanzen-Raupenfliege).

ID: You don't find the usual tachinid characters here, these long perpendicular bristles. The large, kite-like wings and head tell the genus, the purple reflection on the wing indicates that this is a male. Tachinids are often parasiting caterpillars but Phasia hemiptera deposits its eggs on hemipterans (Palomena sp., Pentatoma sp.), hence its scientific name. The species is found in much of Europe. There are other, similar species of the same genus. The golden hairs on the sides of the prothorax in males and females tell this one apart.

Ein kleines Fliegelein, das Du hier mit bester Bildschärfe zeigst. Glaube, dass ich es auch schon gesehen habe. Schön glänzende Flügel, die eine sehr spezielle Form haben. Die Wanzen-Raupenfliege hatte sich lange in deinem Bildarchiv versteckt!

Very impressive macro. I haven't seen on TN this species. Uncommon colours and shape of the fly.
