EQUISETUM

Horsetail
Schachtelhalm
Prêle

Equisetum (horsetail, snake grass, puzzlegrass) is the only living genus in Equisetaceae, a family of vascular plants that reproduce by spores rather than seeds.
The name "horsetail", often used for the entire group, arose because the branched species somewhat resemble a horse's tail.
The genus Equisetum is near-cosmopolitan, being absent only from Antarctica.
In these plants the leaves are greatly reduced and usually non-photosynthetic.(Wikipedia)

A typical shot od this more than rainy Spring we have.

PS Thanks a lot to Helmut (buscape) who gave me some precisions about these drops, which are in fact no raindrops, but water drops coming out of little fissures on the plant itself.

Hallo Anne,
Viele Grüße,
Helmut

Hi Anne,

This is one of your better images (at least one of my favorites). Good use of light and effects with droplets. The segments of the Equsetum stand out with the ring of spinose structures. TFS.

Mike

Bonjour Anne,
