[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This animal was found many yers ago in a clear forest brook under some rotten leaves. It is Sialis lutaria, Alderfly, Schlammfliege, and belongs to an interesting insect order, the Megaloptera. Their abdominal gills are in fact segmented. Since there was no way to take a shot in the natural surrounding the animal was put in a glass dish. I used two synchronized flashes , one from below and the other one from above at a 60 degree angle. A Zeiss lens with distance rings on an old Edixa Reflex B did the job. I had to scan the slide and work the picture to remove dirt and bubbles in the background. Enjoy!

Hi Dietrich,
Wieder ein interessantes Insekt. Es handelt sich dabei wohl um eine Larve. Letztes Jahr habe ich eine ausgewachsene Schlammfliege fotografiert.Sie kam mir vor wie so ein Urinsekt.

Hello Dietrich,
Pretty good 40-year old shot. The quality is good even now and you scanned it in with good treatment.
Your note is very useful: must try to find an adult Alder fly to photograph for posting next summer.
TFS, best wishes, Ivan

Bonne photo qui t'a demandé beaucoup de travail. pour finir avec un bon résultat
