Drosophila melanogaster larva

[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
One of my oldies: Drosophila melanogaster (Diptera: Dew fly or Fruit fly, Taufliege, Drosophile). They are the ones around your fruit plate! This is not a natural setting (Uhhgh), the flies had to be narcotized to remain still in the glass dish. They are of about 2 mm length, so a maximal extension of the optics bellow was needed as well as lighting with two sidewise flashes. The slide was scanned and resized for TN. Enjoy! |
