Zoo photo or not, you demonstare here agian how much of a skillfull photogrpher you really are!
What an impressive portrait!
I really like the expression on his face here - you are right, it's definitely very eye-catchy :)
Your great zoom lens really helped you get close this time and that made a powerful composition here.
I like the DOF that you used - very apropriate for this type of shooting - keeping the vulture in perfect focus and blurring the BG nicely.
The exposure is spot-on - as usual - and that also gave the photo those beautifully saturated colors.
You say this is the end of your bird series...i'm really looking forward for what's next. Maybe some macros? :))

This is a remarkable picture!
I don't know also your reasons to post this picture, but whatever they would be, just thanks to do it.
It's a master class on focus and DOF on the bird.
The things around become blurred so nicely.
Just look at that eye, very impressive stare, and a freat contrast with the white strip around.
A magnificent composition on wich the background was so effective putted away.

What a marvellous portrait!! This vulture even seems a likeable guy!
The details are really amazing. Luckily you didn't say good buy to zoo pictures. This one is a marvel! Going to the Zoo may be a bit disappointing and distressing for those who love nature, yet pictures like yours show that a great photographer with a great lens can take the best of those places.

If you unwritten as though you took this shot in ZOO,I would believed as though is it in nature.
Very well adjusted DOF managed blurry BG and look concentrated only on face hereof amazing bird of prey.Accurate sharpening giving great sharp details on plumage in face and on his beak too.Beautiful colors are very well saturated-all nuances brown color are really splendid.

Hi Alexei,
An outstanding portrait shot on this Black Vulture! Some really nice soft light and a nice job using spot metering here.
Even at f6.3 DOF is shallow, and I like the effect of the face and beak being sharp with a gradual falloff in DOF. I am guessing you were close to him as the DOF gets very shallow. Tack sharp in all the needed areas. Really a nice shot!

This is certainly worth presenting - it is quite amazing! I like the way the head is turned in a nice angle to show the eye and beak very clearly and framed in by a hood of fluffy feathers. I'm also impressed by the sharpness and the colours of the plumage. Nice soft background too. Brilliant work!

This is a superb Vulture, his face is impressive. Here in Alps Vulture are rare, sometime I am lucky to see our "Gypaete barbue" in sky, he is 2.40m wings size, but I have no photo of him...
The "+++" : composition, great subject, expression, POV, colors, sharpness, DOF, blurred BG, light & exposure, useful note...
The "-" : perhaps more space on the right side...

Hello Alex,
The is a perfectly composed portrait of your vulture. It is an interesting study in DOF. I see the beak is razor sharp, but there is still find detail on feathers and fading into a nice blurred background. The second thing I notice has to do with the outstanding exposure. The light is very even throughout and it reveals very nice rich but natural colors. The overall technical qualities of the photo are amazing and it does not matter that it was taken at zoo.

Sharpness and details are perfect, exposure is spot on and the colors and saturation is perfect. DOF is wonderful as well. I like how the wind is blowing his feathers from the back. Very handsome shot.
