c'est un bon test,effectivement moi aussi j'hesite a depasser les 400iso de peur d'avoir trop de bruit,il faudrait que je fasse aussi des essais dans les derniers retranchement de mon appareil canon.ici le resultat n'est pas mal,certe un peu de bruit dans les zones foncées mais dans l'ensemble c'est convenable.

Well, what can I said more than I love too so much my little and lighter S3IS compact?
But this is really impressive with the way it handle the high ISO and noise. Certainly delivered a clean and clear image.
Good timing in the capture of two insects at the same picture, with a well balanced composition.

3200 ISO??? Wow! It is more than impressive! Especially for someone like I am, whos camera can take photos with only 400ISO.

amazing!! My small compact Canon S3 IS produces a large amount of noise on ISO 200 and above! There is a tiny amount of noise considering the very high ISO!
+++ Great sharpness, brilliant composition and good colours.
--- Slightly noisy but come on... it's on ISO 3200!! ;)

Like your note. As I'm concerned, I dream about this new Canon Mark 111... I agree that this extreme ISO is not that bad at all. Techology is much impressive. My Canon 20D don't do the job with hight ISO... :(((

Very good detail retained at this ISO rating, great job of post-process NR Alexei. I've used mine up to ISO 2500 with very usable/acceptable image quality. Most often only employed in low-light situations and/or very fast moving subjects..

I like your post - very educative and interesting. Picture with so high iso looks very, very good. My Canon produce too much noise even at iso100... I like your very personal note too. But, if I remember correctly, Konika Minolta cam's division is dead, taken by Sony. So as always - not better product will survive but bigger company.

Hi Alexei,
a nice picture with lovley colours and light.
Pretty good sharpness and details for a 3200 ISO.
The noise in high ISO can be under control in good light
and without any cropping, try really bad light and do some cropping you will see some changes, If you compair a 6 mp and a 10-12mp with the same censor size the lower resulotion will
have less noise.

Wonderful shot of this beautiful butterfly and I like the surrounding very much. Superb lighting and the colour tones are lovely of the leaves. The white butterfly stand out perfectly. The small fly at the right hand corner is a bonus. Excellent POV to portray this scene and very nicely composed. Kudos.

Dear Alexei,

thanks for experimenting again, I profit a lot from your reports! Here you tried a high ISO value, a thing I never dared for fear of grainy pictures. I do think that the above result IS grainy, the picture otherwise good (composition, interesting species, sharpness). If you check the wingtips or the upper right corner you will agree with me. But there is no reason for panic to spread in the TN community. At any extreme value on a camera the its limits become evident. But to whom am I telling all this...

Lovely autumn picture showing the white butterfly and the fly sunbathing on the brown leaves. Great sharpness and fine colours in this beautiful composition. I don't quite see the point of using a high ISO in good sunlight though, but I gather you're just experimenting!

Personally I fine the definition more than fair, and that is before I know the ISO value!
With that knowledge it is simply amazing, nothing less!!

Great colors and detail here. For 3200 ISO it looks amazing. At that high of a shutter speed you could stop just about any action. The camera makes just keep getting better and better at in camera noise reduction. Now I just need to buy a better camera

The picture of the butterfly has turned out really beautiful. I also like the immense details of the foliage that sort of match with the subject in a coherent wholesomeness.

I am seeing the benefits of it where I can
shoot at higher ISOs, for in-flight photos
95% of the time I am at ISO1000, great photo
from you where you have captured 2 insects,
with no digital noise on the photo, TFS
