[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is, may be, the last photo of the starlings which settled down under the roof of the countryside house next door. The pair of starlings has already chicks, which are hungry all day. Careful parents work to support the family nonstop.

The bird was so happy with its trophies. He joyfully jumped, waved wings and sang nearby from a nest, glancing towards a roof. Only having finished ritual dances, it has hastened to baby birds.

I also was almost happy to watch the scene and photograph the whole ceremony. I love crickets, they are very beautiful and photogenic and it is a pity a bit, that starlings like to feed them.

The European Starling is insectivorous, and typically consumes insects including caterpillars, moths, and cicadas, as well as spiders. While the consumption of invertebrates is necessary for successful breeding, starlings are omnivorous and can also eat grains, seeds, fruits, nectars, and garbage, if the opportunity arises. There are several methods by which they forage for their food; but for the most part, they forage from or near the ground, taking insects from or beneath the surface of the soil. Generally, starlings prefer foraging amongst short-cropped grasses and are often found between and on top of grazing animals out to pasture. Large flocks forage together, in a practice called “roller-feeding”: where the birds at the back of the flock continually fly to the front of the flock as they forage so that every bird has a turn to lead (1957). The larger the flock, the nearer individuals are to one another while foraging. Flocks often forage in one place for some time, and return to previous successfully foraged sites. (Feeding)

Wow....Alexei..two for the price of one!!
Now this guy really brings home the bacon when it comes to dinner time. Very neat capture and in fine focus. Starlings may be nuisance birds to some, but I have to admit when seen up close like this, they are very attractive. Great work!!

hi alexei
I must say that there are two who laugh less ....
very good timing for this set, you had to be alert to the passage.

Hi Alexei. This is a remarkable picture in perfect focus at the eye. The colours are few but well pronounced. You've center (framed) it well. You've got the most blue sky you can get. The best part is the way he's holding the crickets. What a great action shot. Love all the character this photo has to offer. Nice work! TFS Trevor
