Some interesting facts about lions:

1. Lions have been mistakenly called the "king of the Jungle," but the fact is, lions do not inhabit jungles.
2. While lions have also been referred to as the "king of the beasts," this is only partially true. Lions, in their habitats, are kings of the predatory beasts, but they can be easily backed down or killed by elephants and water buffalo. A pack of hyenas can also back down or even kill a solitary lion!
3. When it comes to mating, lions are the champions! Lions can copulate up to as many as 100 times in a 24 hr. period!
4. Lions are the only true social members of the cat family and live in groups called prides.
5. Lions run at a rate of 50 mph (81 kmph).
6. Lions sleep up to 20 hours a day.
7. Female lions reach two thirds of their adult size by the time they are 2 years old.
8. Males begin to really grow between 3 and 3 1/2 years and by 4 will be almost their adult size and weight.
9. Both males and females continue to grow until they are 6 years old, primarily becoming more massive.

Sochirca, Crisp clean shot composed well with only the left paw falling out of frame a bit. I might've stepped down the EV in this one as you have very bright sunny conditions in the shot. A great supporting note & Well Done!

I think Howard's critique about said it all. Nice lion. Cute tongue, pose.

Hi Sochirca, good to see you back. Great shot. I think the whites are a little overexposed but very good overall. The pose is great.

I'm very impressed with point 3 of your note. The UK are thinking about offering sperm donors 50 per go and with that kind of performance a cool cat could make a killing.

I simply love her lazy attitude and apart from a little overexposure it is a very good capture. the background is perfect to set her off and the cropping/composition is very good.

This guy is in perfect condition. I like the tonge action and I hope he is not licking his lips for you. I like this shot, but tried a worksop on it. As the background is not really important in this shot a made it a bit darker to make the overexposed whites a mit better. I then sellected the eyes and made those a bit lighter to get the yellow color back. - Hope you like it.

Thanks for posting

Very nice shot but overexposed...

Hi Sochirca,
Totally agree regarding your notes especially " king of the jungle" and I have seen them being chased by elephants. They are majestic and beautiful cats as you have captured in this photo.Great facial expression and relaxed pose. There is a slight over exposure around the neck and breast, otherwise great shot.
