Scarce Swallowtail Iphiclides podalirius (Linnaeus, 1758)
Family: Papilionidae
The Scarce Swallowtail inhabits medows, gardens, fields and open woodlands.
It is widespread throughout southern Europe and local in Central Europe. It can be found also in North Africa and in Asia in temerate climate zone to China.
Caterpillars host plants are Rosaceae, mainly Blackthorn (Prunus spinosa).
Flight period: (one to three generations from March to September)
Wing span: 62-75mm
