Eagle Owl

[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
This is an Eagle Owl.
This bird is making a comeback to the United Kingdom over the last couple of years.
The wildlife purists have been whining that it is not a natural native species and its not here naturally because it has migrated here.
So even the R. S. P. B. wanted the birds killed off.
Well a few, more reasonably minded and logical thinking, people took them all to task about this and had a great victory for the Owls and they are now protected by Law.
The way I see it is, if the birds chose to come here by themselves they are naturally here.
If they were introduced by people then they are not naturally here.
Nature should prevail over the pomposity of a few "experts" and in the case of the Eagle Owl in the UK it has.
So now the birds are starting to thrive here and are breeding freely and naturally.
Recently some ramblers have made complaints that they have been buzzed by some Eagle Owls.
Well if you wanna go walking in the countryside and "get at one with nature", you shouldnt whinge and whine when natural things happen to you.
I would enjoy the experience myself.
Regards

It's a nice shot Roy.
Exposure is very good, but the image does'nt have the sharpness it should have and the eye of the owl is a bit to much centered in the frame.
Would have been nicer with a little more space on the let side because that's the side the owl is looking at.
Best regards, Harry

I really like the colors and texture here, Roy. For me, the level of detail is just great, though I've found with that lens that an aperature or f8 or smaller is needed if you want things to be nice and crisp. With regard to composition I think while I like the eye being centered, and I think an informal balance with the beak in the bottom left and the eye in the top right might work even better.

Hi Roy,
i really couldn't agree with you more. i have heard about the RSPB's line on Eagle Owls and cannot understand it. These birds have a right to be here as much as any other animal. I personally would love to be buzzed by an Eagle Owl too, they are magnificent animals!
Anyway, a great shot, i personally like the central composition of the eye. Could maybe be a tad sharper i guess, but the colours are great.
tfs,
Paul
Hi Roy!
At first I would like to thank you for visit and writting comment to my Serbian picture. I hope that your trip to this country will be very fruitful and you will spend a lot of nice moment there :)
According to this picture I have to say that I decided to write some words because it presents an owl :) And these are one of my favourite bird species :) Very nice "eye-contact" and beautiful colours (especially the eye is amazing). On the other hand I would preffer to keep some more owl's body on the photo (I think it is a little to "narrow", especially the left side :>).
Anyway, nice picture!
Best greetings,
Radomir
