the river bollin weir at little boddington
"The Bollin marks the Southern boundary of the city and is sandwiched between the M56 motorway and Manchester Airport. It is rural in character, surrounded by mature woodland with informal access along its length
This is the most rural of the City's waterways and is reflective of the agricultural landscape of the neighbouring Cheshire plains.
The river Bollin is of a high quality, with a healthy population of trout and even the occasional Salmon gracing its waters.
Sunbank Wood is a grade A site of Biological Importance (SBI), with good public access. Cotteril Clough is Manchester's only designated Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSI). Access needs to be arranged through the Cheshire Wildlife Trust.
The river valley itself is small scale, intimate and very attractive with mature trees sheltering the river for most of its length." |
