Hello Paul,
I'm really sorry to hear you had such 'typical English weather' in beautiful Cornwall! I thought you had a nice spell recently but you have to pay somehow for the green lush landscape of dear old England! Here we had a storm with a downpour but now it's back to drought in our little corner of Sweden.
This is a lovely atmospheric capture of a full river Fowey. I love water where-ever it is and the surrounding forest here looks wonderful too. You know my feelings about the 'frothy' look, I miss the droplets, but that's just me! Even so very nice!

You simply are a master "craftsman" at this type of image...These are the kind of pictures I see at upscale art and photo displays...some at South Lake Tahoe around this time of year. this kind of image in say a 16x20 framed go for 200-300 dollars if signed and limited in print. Now that may not sound like a lot of money, but it is much more than none, which most photographers get:-)
I have no clue, without being inside of your head, how you do this. It is not just simply a technique..and yes I have seen "similar" but nothing as close to this...absolute perfection and this kind of image is what gives TN it's heart and soul...Glad your back and posting Paul!

Hello Paul,
I have to admit that under similar rainy dull circumstances I couldn't have achieved the sharpness and DOF of the beech wood that the river Fowey is flowing through in this shot because I would have wanted the speed to show the water as it was. However though the appearance of the water is not to my taste, on reflection, your version is better than mine would have been and the composition is unbeatable.
I take my hat off to you!

just wonderful. though the effect of the water is nothing new, this one is just right. the color of water is not good but then after the rains you can't expect it to be clean and prestine. lovely forest in the BG. the big tree stump in the middle looks like some mythical creature. tfs.

What a beautiful scene this is! I have never seen the English countryside but it looks wonderful - too bad about the rain. The water and the falls are so effective against the beautiful lush forest. My eye wants to follow the river around the bend and see more and more.

This photo certainly has that elusive quality: Impact. The deep depth of focus and the great sharpness against the silky water is very effective. The overcast weather made for some nice even light. VERY nice work Paul.

I think, this is yours speciality. "running water shooting" And again this is also a very succesfull shot. The bush anf the light is here beautiful. Lovely colours and the big branche at FG makes the composition complete. POV, DOF and BG are good.

Hello Paul,

The wetness has, as you say, provided you with spectacular rivers and lush green vegetation. The atmosphere here is lovely.
You have made the water slide over the rocks rather than rush and tumble. I think this is a great art and have debated preferences many times. I must admit, I like to see the water spraying but that is my preference and in noe way demeans your shot.

Hi Paul

Nice to see your newest work from your travels and to see you back here again :) I hope you're alright and that you aren't finished with your holidays and traveling ;)

This is a splendid shot of a slice of the huge ancient forests that once covered that area. I'm sure it's an absolute pleasure to walk through all that history and to feel those "ents" crack and creak, on a background noise of water flowing...and that's exactly what this photo makes me feel, too. You managed to capture the exact sentiment of that place with this shot and that's something one hardly obtains. I congratulate you for that.

Technically, the shot is really great, with a spot on exposure everywhere. I'm actually a bit surprised that after 8 seconds you didn't get over-exposure on the foam of the water...it must have been a really dark place :)
Anyway, the composition is terrific, the low POV is lovely and the perspective towards the forest is superb.
Wonderful work, mate and hope to see lots more ;)

Hi Paul,
A wonderful effect on this extreem long exposure. You must have been lucky that there was no significant wind that day since the leaves and twigs are in perfect condition. I like this type of forrest a lot, it always has some mystical feel to it.
The composition is very wonderful and the river invites to viewer to explore the depth of the photo. The details are stunning and the control of light is very impressive.
