yellow brain fungus

Latin name: Tremella mesenterica
Size: Grows to approximately 5cms in height
Distribution: Found throughout the U.K.
Months seen: All year round
Habitat: Found on dead branches of deciduous trees.
Special features: Colour varies from yellow to orange. Starts off as small jelly-like nodules and then expands into a multi-folded brain-shaped mass. Poisonous.

Hi Geof,
What an interesting fungi, almost looks like candy or yellow. The intens yellow color is very beautiful. Great idea to shoot it after some rain or dew, giving it the fungi this nice shine. I am not so sure about the frame, but that is me.

Beautiful fungi and very well captured.

Exposure and DOF handled very well, I like the composition.

What a great capture, Geof!
Its color and texture are magnificent and the contrast with its environment is great.
