[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I recently spent a week at Center parcs in the lake district.
Having been to a different Center parcs before where there is lots of water and lots of water birds, I was quite disappointed by the lack of both at this site.
However, the advantage was that there were red squirrels and woodpeckers to be seen quite easily, amongst the other varied wildlife.
I was out walking and crouching down to photograph a rabbit about 10 metres away when the rabbit was startled by something behind him. I looked across and saw that it was a woodpecker just landing on a tree. The bird then flew down to the rock you see in the photo, about 5-6 metres in front of me. I managed to get just 1 shot before he flew away. The next shot was of him flying towards me which was horribly out of focus, as are all my flying shots! Oh well, I think this one's OK, I hope you like it.

Hello Andy, well caught this Woodpecker on his stone and out of rabbit!!!! Composition and sharpness are perfect, I like the light in the BG, very well done, Didier.

Hi Andy, excellent shot. Great lighting, colours and detail. Also a good low POV. Very well composed, TFS.

:-) tomorrow

Nice capture, actually if the position of the woodpecker is on a tree branch i think the effect can be nicer..

hi andy
il manque un peu de details mais les couleurs sont belles.il devait se trouver assez loin.

it's a very nice capture Andy,
a good fast shot because I know this is a good job. Bird capture is not easy and you made a good job here with a nice composition, and did a good job.

Wow, this is an excellent capture Andy. The composition is very nice and the focus is just perfect. Exposure is spot on aswell. Well worth the big smiley! I do think the colors in the photo are a little bit oversaturated (the green appears to be a little too green), but that is just my personal taste. Very well done and TFS!

Hi Andy,
Great shot, I like this. I've been trying to photograph a green Woodpecker that visits my garden but without much success. I like the colours and light, very atmospheric. At first I thought maybe a tighter crop would work but the more I look the more I like this the way it is, I think the space around the Woodpecker combined with the shallow DOF emphasises his size. Nicely exposed and good detail, great work.
