Good Morning Everyone,

Well 100 today! A truly hair-raising experience!

It has been an amazingingly fruitful and rewarding time where I have learned so much about photography and presentation. Kind people have written long paragraphs to steer me in the right direction; others have given me just a quick nudge, equally effective! (My husband would probably agree with the nudge!!)

Thank you to you all for constant support and honesty!
Here is a nice little quote:
Use what talents you possess: the woods would be very silent if no birds sang there except those that sang best.
Henry Van Dyke

This emu was photographed at The lakes Wildlife Park at Ulverston. The camera was hand held.

Here is some interesting information about the emu from Wikipedia:
Emus are large birds. The largest can reach up to two metres (6 ft 7 inches) in height (11.3 metres (3.24.3 ft) at the shoulder) and weigh between 30 and 55 kilograms (66121 pounds).[9]. They have small vestigial wings and a long neck and legs. Their ability to run at high speeds is due to their highly specialised pelvic limb musculature. Their feet have only three toes and a similarly reduced number of bones and associated foot muscles; they are the only birds with gastrocnemius muscles in the back of the lower legs.

Many thanks for your visit.
I hope you enjoyed it!
Please feel free to offer feedback on any aspect of the photograph.

Hi Beverley!

Hmm, nice hairstyle, but it seems to me as if it is not finished yet, the most important is still missing: where's the fluorescent green, red and orange colouration?

I thought that a little joke for your (magnificient) 100th posting could be appropriate!

Kind regards and congratulations!

Hi Beverley,
Excellent portrait of this emu.I liked details and expression on face a lot.May be framing is a little tight and would be better if all upper part of hairs were seen.Nevertheless great work! Thanks for posting..

Hi Bev,

Congrats on your 100th post.
Its a great shot to celebrate, with a lovely profile pose.
Very nice details, excellent colours that are nicely complimented by the fabulous OOF BG.
Love the quote too.

Hello Bev
First of all many congratulations And thanks for all of your postings..
You always post something different (lets call it diversifying shall we!!)
So in sum Many congrats on your 100th..
Now lets get down to this aptly titled gem...Its a fantastic portrait and the details are just about as sharp as a pro would capture..The eye focus is just spot on as being the central point of the image...My only gripe would if I am bold enough to make one is the top of the hair is missing...But that as always is just my opinion....
This is one for my favourites without a doubt...Its a classic.
My best Regards and wishes and I look forward to your next post..counting up to 200!!
