Hello,

this another view from the same spot as my first post from this area. These Granite outcrops are numerous all over Dartmoor, and as you can imagine most of the local buildings are constructed from it. I found the below in Wikipedia, which i thought was quite interesting:

'Granite could be considered a potential natural radiological hazard as, for instance, villages located over granite may be susceptible to higher doses of radiation than other communites. Cellars and basements sunk into soils formed over or from particularly uraniferous granites can become a trap for radon gas, which is heavier than air.'

hopefully this isn't an issue in this area..

thanks for looking

TFS. nick..

PS how did the new lens go.

Hi Paul,
Very beautiful and peaceful landscape. The colours and composition are perfect.

What an amazing scenery Paul! This is a very good perspective with great colors saturation, DOF, POV and composition. Your notes are also much interesting as I didn't know that granite could be hazardous. It reminds me of a radioactive substance that is present in the mountain close to where I live; it is called radon (in French) sorry, I don't know the English name. I am lucky not to live too close from the mountain but some houses which are, have to be checked for radiation level... Thanks,
Claudine

Oh man! ... now something else to worry about! Thanks!! : )

The photo is super with that marvelous wide angle depth of field. It's a wonderful balanced composition with the clouds on one side and the granite out crop on the other.

Stacking filters didn't seem to have any adverse effects. I've been warned not to do it on digital cameras. : / Who knows?

Hi Paul,
Another stunning photo from this area. I particullary like the way the clouds add so much more depth to the photo. Your created a wonderful composition where your low POV made the rock formation look huge. I also like the view behind the rock showing the wonderful british landscape. Great work on the exposure and clarity.

Hi Paul.
Your coastline and geology images are amazing, wow. Love the use of clouds here to really make impact of these rocks, pin sharp front to back, wonderful view through to the horizon, superb.

Hello Paul,
The composition of this landscape is excellent, the wide angle giving the clouds a superb perspective, almost drawing the granite rock away into the vanishing point.
The rock itself has a beautiful lighting, with the patern of weather cleavage showing up well and a little reminiscent of the man-made construction at Machu Pichu in Peru.
Nice to view!
Tfs and have a nice weekend!
Ivan
