Hello,

taking another dip into my archives again, this one is from a rare hot and sunny day during a hike last summer on Dartmoor. We stopped here for a quite some time to rest, mindful all the time of ticks and other nasties that lurk amongst the ferns and grass!
After extensive checking and rechecking of my various maps of this area i can only conclude that this valley has no name at all so i'm afraid i can't tell you what this area is called!
It sits on the more fertile and green outskirts of the southern half of the Moor near Haytor Vale and even retains some of the ancient woodland that used to cover this area before man cleared it a few thousand years ago.
If my memory serves me correctly, the spot from which i took this shot is in the middle of one of the many neolithic ruins that are found on Dartmoor. This loose rock that lays scattered around on the slopes of the granite Tors here is known locally as Clitter, and is a term that is used only here as far as i know.

Hope you enjoy the sunny view, won't be long until the the warmth returns hopefully.

Thanks for looking...

Hallo Paul
This is such a refreshing scene. Looking at it makes me miss somebody I don't even know. An image I would print, frame and put it on my wall. This is really beautiful. There is just such a variety of colours to appreciate in this photo. The white clouds, the blue sky, the grey rocks, the green valley, the flowers in the distance and many more. This is a magic scene that has a calming effect on the eye. The landscape is really wonderful. Great sharpness and exposure. Lovely presentation. Thanks for sharing.
Kind regards
Anna

Hi Paul
Depth of view is great. The sky is absolutely fantastic. I like everthing. Nothing to critique. Beautiful! I agree with Anna there is so many different colors on these shot

Hello Mr Haynes
This is a fantastic landscape..Youve captured light and shadows all over the scene which is very nicely broken up into the the fore, mid and back ground..No easy task.
The framing is spot on as are your use of filters.
Top Work and one that I would proudly display on my wall.
Paul

Hi Paul

What a beautiful late summer day! I miss them, too! And i sure hope that the warmth returns soon (it's been cold and rainy here for almost a week) :(
I like the landscape - and i mean the actual landscape here: just nice hills with little patches of forest here and there, rocks scattered in bit an all the slopes and lovely wild flowers everywhere...just a splendid place to walk in on such a nice day.
The great sun and the fluffy clouds really gave you a terrific summer mood and also made sure that every aspect of the frame here would be "entertaining" :)
Charming colors everywhere and a spot-on use of all those filters!
Wonderful work, my friend!

Bravo and TFS

Hello Paul,

What a beautiful landscape and what a contrast between dark and lighter areas. Splendid. These stones on the right side are a nice contrast with the purple moor beside them. The undulating landscape happens very pleasant. The blue sky, clouds and the whole environment give me rests. That must be a perfect lazy day. Thanks for sharing. Greetings and TFS BOB

Hi Paul!

This would be a place where I would like to have a rest, even a lazy day! Where I would walk around with my camera round the neck or have a picnic with my lovely wife. There are many beautiful spots like this one on our planet, but not many so well put on stage as yours.

Kind regards

Markus

Interesante trabajo con el color Paul y una magnífica luz y composición. A la nitidez de los colores se unes esos potentes contrastes que dan un interés especial a esta toma. Un bello conjunto muy bien trabajado técnicamente.

Superb superb beautiful landscape, Paul, I love walking into it with my eyes! What a nice curve of a landscape. When I look at it, yes, we can tell it is an old place. The sky is fantastic and the hills roll one after the other one, it is so beautiful. Thank you!

Hi Paul

Excellent composition - well thought out, with the main elements and light and dark areas well balanced. Having the small patch of purple just off centre makes the shot.

I know the term clitter - it actually refers to the noise that the rocks make when they rub together (also used for insect noise).

James

wow, Paul your landscapes are stunnig! This one is charming. you are killing me today, because its snowing here in Poland again.. I want that hot and sunny day!
I love this shot :-)
thanks!

Hi Paul, this is a wonderful scene of Dartmoor, such diversity and colour in the landscape with a wonderful pov, all topped off with the clear blue sky and fluffy clouds. The shot would make a lovely poster or calendar shot. Great light and good detail throughout. Wonderful composition.

tfs & regards
pankaj

Hi Paul,

Have you really had your EOS400 and 10-20 since last summer?! Time does fly, seems like only a month or so ago you were posting your first shots with that combo!

Anyway, beautiful peaceful "nice" scene mate, I don't generally like that word "nice" too much - but it somehow really fits this shot - it's a real "ahhh" roll on summer type of shot!

The filters have made the most of that lovely sky - and your usual standards of composition etc apply!

Great work - TFS,
Doug

Hello friend Paul,

Wonderful landscape shot which looks like a painting. Lovely colours and sharp details. Superb light and shadow play and you have captured a charming scene and the refreshing ambience pretty well. Excellent DOF and chosen POV. Very nicely composed. Kudos.

Hi Paul.
I have made this shot my favorite but I could do it with any your stunning pictures. All is amazing. Pictured place is wonderful but skill of execution (I think) is more significant factor. Fantastic colours, lights and shadows, excellent reflection of space of the image. Transparency of the image, razor sharpness of all object are terrific. Bravo.
Alexei.
