[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This picture was taken in the New Forest, it is from a log that has appeared many times here on TN.
This pretty little Chaffinch using it as its perch unfortunately has the fungal disease Bumble Foot that seems to effect many of these little birds in the forest. This little character was not hampered with his balance although it can become a lot worse.

It is so bad that some bird have problems with their health.

The picture is very good, TFS

Great photo, sharp and clear. What a horrible disease that is.

A lovely shot, Jai.
Some very fine details in this shot.
Cheers!
Goldy

Hello Jai!
This is a very nice composed, and very colourful picture. I like details and sharpness. Also light looks really good.
Best greetings from Poland,
Radomir

Many times posted on TN perhaps because of the Pope of English Bird-dom, to who you are an heir eh? Very well done Jai. You are a chip off the old block!

Hello Jai,

The size of his feet was quite apparent when I looked at the full size shot! Is the disease fatal or just an inconvenience?

Your shot is very nicely sharp and detailed. The colours are just right! Good composition!

Kind regards,
Bev :-)

Hi Jai

Wonderful capture of the Chaffinch but what a shame about for the bumble foot as it looks a picture of health other than its feet.
Nicely composed with another lovely pose on the famous log.
Nice sharp detail and excellent colours.

Hi Jai. Well today i feel i must comment on you Picture of the Chaffinch. This i would say is your best bird picture on TN yet. The detail and colours are spot on. A nice pose with the bird looking down the line of the tree trunk. All we need to do is to get the tip of the tail in focus but we can work on that, well done TFS.

Hi Jai,
a lovely photo of this Chaffinch.
It's a real shame about the Bumble Foot thing. I've noticed some of the Chaffinches around here have got it too... it seems to only affect the males here though.
Very sharp with lots of detail in the feathers and great texture from the wood.
Natural colours and a spot-on exposure.
Great DOF and BG.
Well done!!!

Joe

Hi Jai

Excellent shot of the male Chaffinch. Nice natural plumage colours with clear sharp details. Sad to see the deformed foot.

what a great capture of the pretty chaffinch male! :-) sharpness, colors, details are really great. too bad to see him so ill.
well done & best wishes, thor.

Hi Jai

Great shot of this chaffinch with excellent DOF and sharpness. Somehow I was unaware of this disease, so i guess those around my home do not have it.
