This was take last weekend on a very damp dull morning in the garden. I have now got a small wooden hide.

Dunnock ( Prunella modularis ) Length 14 - 15 cm.
Common but unobtrusive resident breeding bird in Britain and Ireland, except on Shetland. Adult has a chestnut brown back , blue grey underparts, streaked flanks and needle bill. Feeds quietly on ground searching for insects and seeds. Most noticeable in early spring when male sings lively.Favours woods , hedgerows and gardens.

Hi Nick,

Great close up picture of this dunnock. Nice to hear you now have a hide in your garden, must make things a lot easier :).
The detail on the body is very good and the DOF control is spot on. Well composed as well leaving room in front of the bird.
Great capture and TFS

Hello Nick
Very beautiful bird, whose quality of photo is not to be any more commented: impeccable. I do not know well the birds of our countrysides.
Soon I shall put a rather beautiful photo of a small bird, taken in a field.
You will say to me whom it is?
Thank you best regards

Hallo Nick
Really adorable! Great to see this bird from so close showing the feathers and nails beautifully. Such a petite, but indeed stylish bird. Very posh with delicate qualities. I like the composition and colours in the background. A great pleasure to stop by. Thanks for sharing. Best regards.

Hello Nicholas,
Light, pose you captured, focus, sharpness, composition and the catchlight in the eye are very nice. TFS.Best regards Siggi

Hello Nicholas,
Your photos of birds have a "touch" special, which makes them easy to recognize when viewed in the gallery of TN ... one sees them and says, "Wow, a photo of Nicholas !"... ha ha ha :)... That usually happens with people who put dedication and passion in the photos. It happens also with Silvio's butterflies, fungi of Felipe, Sergio's dragonflies, mushrooms from Lazlo and Esteve, Luciano butterflies, the shots of Roberto, Jane, Ram and several more members making magic in the photos! ...
Good job, despite being a photo "casual", this has all the quality you usually in your bird photos.
Regards, TFS, Jesús

Hi Nick,

Nice shot of the Dunnock, one of my favorite birds. Great detail in the plumage. Good colours, pose and POV. Not so sure about the top of the background, seems it little distracting.
Glad to hear you got a hide in the garden, something that I'm thinking of.
Best regards

Hi Nick,
Perfect and sharp capture of this nice dunnock.
They look so nice and sing so beautifull.
Great details and I am impressed that you could come so close. They play hide and seek with me in my garden.

I thought this was a House Sparrow, Nick!
Very subtle and well saturated colours, razor sharp and perfectly exposed!
