My brother-in-law Ufuk and i while exploring in Epping Forest (Essex) came across a very unusual-at least for me!- mushroom species that i think is Helvella (Saddle) species which i`ve never seen before but i am not sure whether it is the white form (sp. crispa) or the black form (sp. lacunosa).

TFL and greetings from London!

Update: Thanks to Laszlo for id.

Helvella crispa [white saddle, Elfin saddle or Common Helvel]

Hola Bayram

Hello Prof. Bayram,
your venture into Essex forest is very worthwhile. This saddle fungi are really special and exciting to me too. I never seen it and I never thought that fungi could exist in this form and feature.
You have shown it in good view.

Foozi

Hello Bayram,

WOW! étranges champignons!!! lovés dans la végétation automnale.
Parfaite harmonie des couleurs, beau cadrage et splendeurs magiques.
Merci pour cette présentation.
Agréable nuit. A bientôt ici .
Amicalement.
Yolande

Hi MF Bayram. This mushroom from Essex has its unique character in it. Great find exploring while reuniting with your family in the UK. Beautiful landscape down South and have a good time shooting.

Jusni

Hi Bro,

Sorry for the little late check but had i'net connection problems today and yesterday (with TN). Your specimens seem Helvella crispa (Scop.) Fr., because Helvella lacunosa Afzel. has black "cap", and likes a bit warmer ground temperature, in most of the cases grows between May and September. Plus, "stem" and "cap" of H. lacunosa always have different colors, not ca. the same as your photo shows and there are always some anastomosis between the margins of the "stem" - although, without microscopical analysis I can't be 100% sure, unfortunately.

As a photo, it's simply fantastic. Excellent exposure and contrast - just the way I like it. :) No need to mention perfect sharpness, DoF, and a very well thought out composition as well - even with a small brown mushroom at right. :) Absolutely incredible job. Bravo Bareatom.

Tfs, friendly regards, László

Great shot of these very unusual looking mushrooms. I checked my guide and I believe they are Fluted White Helvella.

Merhaba Bayram Hocam,
Doğrusu İngiltere'ye gitmişken oranın doğal hayatına kayıtsız kalmayacağınızı tahmin ediyordum. Bunu bu güzel Helvella türüyle ispatladınız. Bunun şapkası siyah bir türünü yıllar önce Selçuk'ta mantar toplayan çocukların elinde görmüştüm.
Elinize sağlık,
Anavatan'dan yeni karelerinizde görüşmek üzere,
Selamlar,
Ömer.

Merhaba Bayram,
Very strange fungi... Excellent and uncommon capture for you! I see that you are very flexible in your nature subjects and climates! Have a good weekend with your family,
Cathy

Hi Bayam.
Ultimate reproduction of all attractive features of the species. Great use of lovely for me lens and excellent flash work. I am also impressed with 3D-effect. Picture is looked perfectly. Exact aperture settings allowed you to blur BG nicely and to save extreme sharpness of the mushrooms. Excellent job. My compliments and TFS.
Alexei.

Hellow Bayram,
Good exposure and your colours are really eye catching.A really uniquely shaped mushroom, a first for me, well done.
