Another relatively small sized (the cap is 2-5 cm across) mushroom beauty (edible one) which I came across on a dead wood of Epping Forest (Essex) in dense clusters. Thanks to helpings of my dear bro Laszlo Kaposvari (Hormon_Manyer) I found the id of this beauty. So thanks once more my bareatom!

Psathyrella piluliformis (=P. hydrophila) (Common Stump Brittlestem, Two-toned Crumble Cap) is a common species whose principal fieldmarks are fragile texture, smooth, hygrophanous, usually convex cap that is dark red brown drying tan, white or pallid stem, growth in large clumps on decaying hardwood, and dark brown spores. You can reach more detailed info on the genus (that the name means "strawlike, fragile") and species clicking on this this link. I also attached a WS of another cluster of the same species from the same location.

I would like dedicate these postings to another great nature photographer friend on TN, Laurens LINDE (euroblinkie ) who is also one another the best experienced photographer on fungi that I am learning so much from his masterpiece presentations. Hope you can like this MF Lou!

PLEASE DO NOT GIVE POINTS THIS IMAGE! since it is a present!

TFL and Cheers,

Another excellent capture of the fungal life of Epping Forest, this species well shown growing out of its substrate with great sharpness and use of flash to highlight the features.

Hello MF Bayram

A fine composition of small mushrooms which resemble a necklace, and a good present to our friend Laszlo Bayram. The colours look quite natural under flash illumination, still, a tripod might improve the general sharpness of this image...
Mehmet

Hi Bareatom,
A fantastic group of beauties. :) I don't know how and why I missed this post. At least here on TN. :) Beautiful DoF (even though the closest specimen is just out of focus), marvellous colors, fantastic flashlight management. I just learn how to use flash well forsituations like this, without washing out the real colors, so I must say there's a new2 dimension opened to me! Before 2010, my motto was "never use flash"... what a mistake it was! With flashlight and right settings a good photographer, like you, is able to achieve such fascinating result! Bravo!
Friendly regards, László
